I present, my rejected Lego Ideas Project, a UCS B1 Battle Droid.
I worked roughly 2 months on this project in LDD. I got the idea to make this after checking out some Sideshow Collectible figures of the battle droids, and I thought it would be fun to build something with similar functions out of lego bricks.
The model was intended to be both a playable figure, as well as a posable display model.
As the design slowly came together and turned out better than expected, I was content that my battle droid model would be a great project to put on lego ideas. Sadly the project did not get approved, even after 3 attempts and revising the project each time.
some quick stats about the project:
The model is 34 bricks tall, and by using hinge plates and small ball joints, the model has 18 points of articulation with swivel fingers. This allows for many cool poses.
In addition the droid can fold into the iconic "Storage Mode" as the neck can retract into the body for maximum space saving.
Incredible work! Very impressive! It's a pity LEGO rejected the idea, but that's their loss, I think. Being a Star Trek LEGO builder, I can understand the feeling. Anyhow, this will be your special baby :) !
CLANKERS!!! LOOK OUT!!! oh, eheh sorry.. had a bit of a moment. uh. hey! its a great job it is the best B1 model I have ever seen. You don't deserve the rejection. I will give it five decapitations. Keep it up!
