Merry belated Christmas! Well, I'm back. Briefly. A few of my LEGO-loving cousins came over this Christmas and I couldn't help but drag out my Bionicle bins. And let's face it, Torvis was in great need of an update. There's also some other stuff I wanted to share. Figured it wasn't worth the extra post.
About this creation

Zephirak: At last, Toa of Sushi has left MOC Pages. I can finally take over his realm myself! MUA HA HA HA HA...

...ha?

Cordaz: What are you laughing about now, Zephirak?

"Fate and Irresponsibility are both one and the same." -Torvis's philosophy on the concept of fate.

Theme song

Eternal Bond (Ike's Theme)

Back story

Torvis had only discovered his toa powers only a mere few hundred years ago. Until then, he had been living his life as a regular matoran citizen of Omni-Koro. He was eventually detected by the long-standing Mata Order, an organization dedicated to preserving the legend of the Toa Mata. The recruiters within the Mata Order were convinced that Torvis was a Tahau, a Toa that were directly related to Tahu. While Torvis first doubted his history, he was brought into direct contact with Tahu's blade and mask, both worn and rusted from age. The second he touched the blade, his power awakened, rejuvenating the ancient artifacts.

He was then subjected to the Last Legacy, with the intention of becoming a full-fledged Toa warrior. At first, he was only partial to the idea. He wanted to return to his simply life as a Matoran. In a sense, he felt as if the Mata Order, his past and the Last Legacy had stripped him of his right to live as he wished. He never once did anything of his own consent. This all changed when he met the Toa of Protosteel, Cordaz. Unlike those who brought him into the Mata Order and the Last Legacy, Cordaz saw him as an equal, not a tool or a pawn. The two became close and stories of their unyielding demonstration of camaraderie spread through out the Legacy. They eventually recruited Agaru, an artificial Toa seeking revenge against a former friend. This is where the story of Squad 22 begins.

Burning Down the Great Fourth Wall

Well, I guess I should say I'm not really ready to come back to MOCing yet. :P But then again, I never really planned to completely leave either. I do occasionally come around and check things out once and a while. So, I guess it's impossible for me to fully disappear. Besides, Torvis was in great need of an update, anyway. ;)

Again, sorry for the crummy photo quality. Uploader is giving me snuff again.

So, here is the new and improved version of Torvis. I completely did away with the FMA look and settled for a knightly paladin-esque build. I think it turned out okay. I don't really miss the failed attempt of a jacket the original had. Though, like the first version, I did some experimenting with this build. For example, I wanted to try making something that favored aesthetics over playability which is something I rarely try to do.

Profile view. I tried to go for a short, bulky Reyn-time look.

And here's the back. I think it's fairly covered up, honestly. Though, like Shinshiro he's kind of got a backpack thing going on.

I really like how the torso came out. I was a little worried it would be a bit too small while I was building it.

Arms. Torvis's arms are fitted with very little armor to allow full range of motion with his arms in combat.

For some reason, I wanted him to have very bulky legs, lol. Sadly, all the armor on his legs make them very difficult to pose.

The one thing both versions of Torvis have in common is the custom head. The chin area is discolored because I couldn't find one of those pieces in black. :/ Fortunately it's hard to spot with the mask mounted.

He's still fairly poseable, fortunately.

His weapon is known as the Blade of Hau. It's the very same blade the Fire Ancient known as Tahu used many thousands of years ago.

Despite the heavy amount of armor he wears, Torvis is quite quick on his feet. His slashes and cuts are both equally quick and precise. His power over the fire element is also exceptional; many believe he is one of the most powerful toa of fire to ever walk Spherus Magna. He once took on six rogue toa of water and won.

Another random pose. :P

"I fight for my friends."

Torvis: Uh, it happened again.

So, I just about ran out of new ball joints. As a result, I had to resort to the older ones that came with the Toa Mata and such. And good grief, these things are awful.

That's it for Torvis. As stated in the title, there's some other stuff I'd like to address.

Cordaz: Where the heck is Torvis? Didn't you tell him we had a mission briefing today?
Agaru: I'm pretty sure that's your job, Cordaz. I mean, you are the squad leader and all--wait, I think that's him right there!

Torvis: Hey guys, sorry I'm late--
Cordaz: Who the heck are you?

Torvis: It's me, Torvis. Is something wrong with your eyes?
Cordaz: Very funny, pal. Torvis uses tomes and alchemy, remember?
Agaru: Oh great moons of Bara Magna, here comes little-miss-tightwad.

Kirah: Sorry I'm late. Some jerk at the Guard headquarters was trying to hog all the ammo. Nice to see you too, Agaru
Cordaz: What happened between you two? Another lovers' spat, I presume?
Kirah: "Lovers' spat?" What are you talking about? Like I'd ever date this melodramatic sack of kane-ra dung.

Cordaz: Oh, hey Cordah. Nice to see someone is still-- Whoa, what the heck is that?!

In case I didn't make it clear, a lot of stuff in the Last Legacy storyline is being retconned or completely redone.

Just to get the kanohi dragon out of the room, there is absolutely nothing going on between Anakin and Padme Agaru and Kirah. Kirah never worked at the facility where Agaru was "created" and therefore never met him prior to the main story events.

The relationship between Agaru and Zephirak is more or less the same; Zephirak murdered everyone at the facility, killed Variak and emotionally scarred Agaru. However, rather than being overcome with grief and being a melodramatic Cloud-esque fool, Agaru is out for blood. He wants Zephirak dead. Agaru's motives are now more revenge-oriented.

While Cordah's personality hasn't changed, her origin certainly has. And you more than likely noticed that giant, cumbersome tool she's dragging around.

"That's gotta be the weirdest freaking gun I've ever seen," is probably what you're thinking, right? :3

That, fellas, is a gunlance! My favorite weapon in the Monster Hunter video game series! :D Since Cordaz is my self moc, I wanted to incorporate some elements of my personality into his parallel universe counterpart.

Gunlances are one of the earliest gunpowder-based weapons developed in the Matoran world. They combined the piercing effect of a lance with the explosive force of a shotgun. They were deadly in the sense that you'd poke the unlucky victims full of holes while blowing them to bloody pieces at the same time. Pretty gruesome, right? However, gunlances were very unwieldy to use, due to their cumbersome size. As shown in the picture, Cordah's gunlance is powered by a proto-absorption reactor. It absorbs particles in the air and converts them into explosive shells. To recharge the reactor, it must be exposed to outside air for a period of time.

Just to show the gunlance by itself.

Really, the Zephirak and Shinshiro part of the story is the only thing that's been left completely unchanged. :#

Torvis: Huh? Is there something on my head?

WAAAA, GET THEM OFF OF ME!

Cordaz: Where did these guys come from!
Agaru: They look like the six Ancients!
Cordah: Warriors from another dimension, much like myself.

These were my Christmas presents! xD Well, I bought Tahu and Kopaka eariler in the year, but the rest came from my folks. At first I didn't like the new Bionicles, but they've grown on me since. I'm genuinely curious to see where LEGO decides to take the reboot.

Well, that's it for now. While I did originally intend to leave the pages, it looks like I got sucked right back in. xD I probably won't be posting anymore MOCs for a while (I was going to say "likely forever," but I said that for Shinshiro and look how that turned out). As it is, I'll likely hang around and comment on things people post. The updated, retconned back stories will be posted on the other MOCs sometime in the near future. I may decide to put my Custom Bionicle Wikia page to use and write out the full story there. For now, thanks for viewing!

Quoting X ~ The Return. Moc doesn't look too bad either.
If he looks kind of funny to you, I'd understand. xD The more I look at him, the more I start to think I could have done to make him look better.
Quoting ~ Hazzy Well, I quite like Torvis. Yet the lower arms do seem to be a bit thin maybe a tire also? Anyway, I'm glad that you are still out of your dark ages :P It's nice to see that you are still active aswell. Cheers!
I'm having a really hard time locating more tires of that particular size. :P I'll have to settle for slightly smaller ones. If I remember to, I'll add a picture of the arms later.

I'll have a look once I get the chance. ^_^
Quoting Quartz roolz now, i want to start this with saying that i dont think he is bad. he just looks...squashed. if there is a reason, or if this was a feature of the previouse version, ok, but it still looks odd. try to make him taller is the only way i ca see to "fix" this (although, it doesn't really need fixing as it does iv him personality.)
Yeah, I get what you're saying. He looks kind of squat in the photos. Funny thing is that he looks taller/more normal in person. I didn't make him so short on purpose, to be honest. That's just something that carried over from version 1. :/
