CCC - Micro Village

This was my first entry for CCCXIII in the micro category.

The MOC was designed around that house design, which I came up with during the summer but never actually tested until last month. This build is much more complex than it looks, which is partially why it ended up taking almost 2 months to build...

The micro watermill is based on the use of a bar as a corner beam. After that, the rest comes together with some SNOTted tiles and fiddly techniques. The roof, connected with a few clips, was one of the hardest parts.
The windmill is a bit simpler, but it was still pretty hard to get a nice tapered shape with a variety of tiny round structure techniques.

Quoting Promar Quadratus You have no idea how thrilled I was to see the non-secured pieces in this build ;) It makes me feel much better to know that a builder such as yourself can do that too... To the build itself: A delightful scene to be sure. I'm a huge fan of micro builds such as this, you've done a fine job (especially in regards to the rocky cliff, trees, and the water below). Superb. God bless, ~Promar~
Hehe, I'm sorta infamous for the amount of loose pieces I use sometimes... So much of this build is unconnected, it's insane :P

Quoting Reese Hawthorne Nice work, Hahli! The microscale house looks great! Aside from what Kai said, the only other thing I question is the lime green ground + olive green trees... Then again, I don't know what other color would have made them look right. :P Overall, great work!
Thanks! When possible, I like to have the trees be a slightly darker color than the ground. Here, the main choices were bright green (which I don't have any of, other than a few apples/large leaves) and olive green (which provides enough contrast while still blending pretty well). I also tried lime trees, but they didn't look very good, plus I didn't have enough pieces.

Absolutely perfect job my dear.

Referring to the water around the base of the waterfall - it should have a ring of white/light blue around it like the shore. As it is, the surface of the water looks like there's no waterfall above it at all. The lighter blue also gets too close to the rock edge on the left side of the build. But the many brilliant and subtle techniques and designs of the MOC more than make up for it.

I like the use of obscure parts such as cherries and horns. When I saw the main photo from the LOM group, I didn't realize it was micro-scale. :/ I might make something similar in minifig scale.

Quoting Kai Bernstein Quaint. Five stars. Despite one of its flaws.
Thanks; I'm happy to finally get a 5 star rating on a MOC that I actually put a significant amount of time into. Which flaw are you referring to?
