LEGO Triumph Rocket III motorbike, a Technic and System combination model.
About this creation

This is my LEGO Triumph Rocket III motorbike. A roughly 1:7 scale model of the real Triumph Rocket III. The model features a working 3 cylinder in-line Technic engine, which like the real one is part of the frame. Transmission to the rear wheel is provided by the gearbox (fixed), through a flexible joint to an axle and a bevel gear to the rear axle.
There is no suspension on the front wheel, simply for making it look as much like the real bike. On the rear the shock absorbers actually works but there`s no space in the rear fender to take up the travel of the rear wheel.
The wheels are the same configuration as my LEGO V-Rod; The rear whell consist of a 61.6mm Rim (# 2903), with 81,6mm Tyre (# 2902), outside this is another Tyre 94,2mm (# 88516). This makes it up for the fat reartyre all LEGOs own models are missing.
I decided to go for a clean LEGO build, so this time I have used the (#3649) 40 tooth gear wheel as brakediscs instead of my own custom designed discs, so everything is genuine LEGO.
The bike has quite a lot of shiny bits and pieces. Most of these parts are spay-painted, mainly to keep costs as low as possible. Using chromed parts from one of the chrome brick dealers, would have been very expensive. A few other pieces have been painted, dark red and black.

Quoting Sam the First The best Lego motorcycle out there? Quite possibly. Lovely shaping and great details - just beautiful
Thank you Sam! There are other really good bike builders out there, Dennis Glaasker (Bricksonwheels), Legomarat (flickr), Kieran Chamberlain (Flickr) and Fred Ottens. They have all made some great bikes, and been an inspiration for me. Who you think has made the best motorcycle, is up to you to decide.

Quoting Jeremy McCreary Well, Henrik, you just established yourself as =the= master of motorcycles around here. Everything is superb. The painting turned out to be surprisingly effective. Hmmm, I may have a use for your rear wheel trick.
Thank you Jeremy! Your support is quite overwhelming and flattering. It was a hard and timeconsuming job to paint all the parts. But I`m happy with the result, and I saved a lot of Money compared to use genuine chrome parts.

Quoting Kira Redlof Oh yes, the way the engine was build is is neat, at first I though it was running chain drive, now I have a better image. The driveshaft is connected to the transmission, sorry about that, I like that. Once again, nice job :) Thumbs up.
I used a 40 tooth gear Wheel for the brakediscs both front and rear, so maybe that`s what fooled you, to think it had a chaindrive. The cut-away Picture is rendered with Bluerender, and I`m not completely happy with the quality.

Obviously... I love it. Specifics why this is so cool: 1- I love that you took the time, effort, and money to acquire the necessary chrome parts 2- Headlight--- can anything be more delicious? 3 - fake 3 cylinder engine?? mind blown. I do not think i have seen this before in a MOC motorcycle

Quoting jim mcdonough now we know why you have been so quiet this last while, beautiful example, looks just like the real thing, you have to look so close to see what pieces used and how its put together, love the way its been built usage of pieces etc, prob your best yet, shaping of the tank and lights are outstanding, when you build one of these where do you start ?, great job as usual, detail second to none
Thank you Jim for this delightful comment. To get the scaling and proportions right, I started with calculating the scale to fit the selected Wheel size and ended up with approx. a scale 1:7. Then I reused the front and rear end of my LEGO V-rod as starting point in the LDD editor to setup the correct angle of the front fork. In the free space between the front and rear I started to design the new engine, and slowly everything grew to what you see now. In order to reach this I went through 50 workfiles.
