Febrovery 2016 "Wavelength" LDD
Another February Rover design.
About this creation
Welcome to this year's entry into the Febrovery collective. As usual (for me) I've created a transforming mech/rover for the Classic Space theme.

Wavelength is an Autobot, his function is communication, which he achieves via the high frequency antenna array on his back. Styled after a dune buggy, he is as comfortable in a desert as he is on the dusty lunar surface.

Wavelength is teamed up with Captain Van Shultz, an expert in electronics, who utilises Wavelength's skills to keep the various space stations and relays of the Classic Space moon base operational.

Wavelength and Van are a good team, both professional with good senses of humour, fluent in many languages, though Van struggles to understand Cybertronian, and Wavelength has a peculiar grasp of English idioms.

Wavelength and Captain Shultz are not lovers of firearms, in fact both have been known to throw guns out of airlocks. Though both are more than capable of handling themselves in a fist fight.

Wavelength has a secret power, in times of great need he can transmit his communication signal at such a high intensity, all electronic systems in line of sight are rendered useless, particularly useful when being attacked by a Decepticon.

Review ....

From time to time I take a second look at my designs to see what I might change. This one is "better " but far from perfect. Firstly it wouldn't hold together well as only friction puts the limbs in place. I really need to start adding stud connectors and clips to make more solid vehicle forms.

Secondly there are gaps which I didn't notice till I viewed this from above. Clearance on the legs is iffy in ldd, but in real life I coukd potentially shorten some of tge joints to make it more compact.

Third, while I love the shape of tge altmode I did have to cheat by placing the scanner and radio in the robot hands to disguise them. It may have been possible to conceal them better.

I haven't decided yet, maybe M-Tron... red and black is a good color scheme.
Suntron might be cool, yellow and white is a great combination.

Quoting andros tempest I look forward to see it. What did you have in mind? M tron colours or something else?

Quoting Scott Bourgeois That's cool. I'm redoing Moon Dune, I'll avoid the CS colors, otherwise it's similar to this. Awesome job!

Quoting Bx Brix This looks awesome and too fun to play with! Might there be a blacktron enemy rover in the future?

Looks awesome! I really like how compact the rover mode is, while the robot mode keeps a lot of the same detail!
