MB #2: Theme/Movie - Serenity
Movie Build #2! Participants: myself (Doug) & my brother Greg. The challenge was to complete a 16 x 16 x 16 max build (minus any decorative embellishments on the base) in the chosen category during the length of the movie before credits end. A slight twist was that whoever took apart and sorted the previous movie build first was allowed to use the credits (Greg) but the other was not. Though neither of us needed it luckily :) We chose Serenity because it is one of our favorites... "I'm a leaf on the wind" and it worked for both a great watching experience and a good source of potential MOCs. Finally, I should note this wasn’t a contest to win, more an excuse to do something fun and lego related together.
About this creation
Greg chose the very iconic near end of movie fight scene where River Tam sacrifices herself to save her brother by locking herself on the other side of a door but manages to defeat all the reavers. At the end of that scene the alliance troops break through the opposite wall and Greg chose to portray the moment where the first soldier is looking through.

I chose the scene on the dead planet Miranda, specifically when Jane sees a dead person inside a parked futuristic car and there are dead people in the background in a glass walled building.

*****

I would have loved more time and space to explore the very interesting visual design of Miranda. With more space and time I could likely have incorporated a bit less white overall but still kept the stark and clean futuristic look. Plus I could have added more of the characters which would have been great. And I wanted to reshape the car to be less tall but ran out of time.
Greg was sad that I didn't have a lego grappling hook piece, or at least we couldn't find it if I do. Would have been neat to have it poking through the wall. He also would have loved to have more time to toss in a bunch of dead reavers.
Still overall we're really happy with the results!

Haha daammn! You thought I meant we did it all during the credits! Nope, sorry to be a lot lamer, but we used the whole movie, and luckily were both done in time we didn't need the credits. Still 2hrs... hard to get a lot done so I think for us it was still good :)
Quoting The Royal Brick Sweet work, Doug! I'm really impressed that you built these over the credits - they are remarkably accurate and recognizable for 10 some-odd minutes of building time! The Serenity movie is one of my favorites, by the way.
