Category 24) Mapped Out - Team: Brick Dynasty
About this creation
MOCathalon 2016
Team Brick Dynasty

I knew I'd just have to do this category the moment I saw it. Then I lost it to my brother on a coin toss, and scratched it off my list. But he went so slow that I got it anyhow. XD

This was a lot of fun, though I reworked the initial idea a couple of times before I finally settled on a loose copy of a LEGO printed map tile. I did really like my other ideas though so maybe I'll build them sometime.

Anyways - I sort of did a cross between 2 and 3D; and scraping that many light blue bricks together was rather difficult (only about half of them are actually mine!). I also tablescrapped a bunch of little gizmos to go along with the map - a candle, a lantern, a match, a key, a knife, and I finally settled on just a compass.

Shipless:

Sailing on through.

Anchors aweigh! - or is it anchors away? ;)

Thanks for checking it out!

Quoting Yuri Fassio Love the nano-vessel and the bridging segments.
Thanks!
Quoting Isaac Snyder Really cool map, everything works together well. The anchor design stood out to me in particular, great use of parts :)
Thank you! I almost used a prefab anchor actually but then that just sort of popped together really quick and I thought it looked great!
Quoting Lego Jim ..... Whoa! This is awesome. I like the microscale ship, and the map is totally sweet. The little maps in the corner are a nice little touch. Great job.
Thanks!
Quoting Tyler Halliwell Very cool idea and execution. A strong 4.
Thank you!

Quoting John Snyder Fantastic work here, Kai! The dotted line looks great and I really like that anchor design :)
Thanks John!
Quoting Chris Phipson There's just "something" about this that I just REALLY like... can't put my finger on it... Doesn't matter, you nailed it whatever it was! (sorry for the confusing comment... shoulda' just put the number and shut my mouth... err, fingers...) 5 points ~ Chris.
You know, that's actually kind of how I feel about this build... I really think it turned out well but I couldn't quite put my finger on why... regardless, thanks for the five! ;)
Quoting matt rowntRee Love those diagonal lines! Score = Very high 4
Thank you! Do two high fours make for a total of 9 points? ;P
