My last entry to this year's MOCAthalon (http://moc-pages.com/group.php/25660), team Brick Dynasty, category Wedding Planner. My ideal wedding... hmm, obviously there needs to be an explosion... and some suspense... and... well it's hard to explain, but I'd love it if this was my wedding! First things first, no, they aren't eloping. They are getting married on a train (which they planned to escape on), while the bandits, the chief of which wants to marry the girl for her fortune, are blowing up the bridge (here that's already happened) and pursuing the train on horseback. A couple of the more foolhardy bandits leapt on the train. Btw, the guy on the very front, in brown and about to fall off, is me(also the engineer), the other guys near the front, in black and grey, is the pastor, and the only girl in the scene is the bride. The guy on the horse on the cliff is the bandit chief. Now the build. It's got two parts, the train and the bridge. I went for a unusual type of stonework to make it more western, if you don't like it, there are pictures of just the train. The train has two sides, and the locomotive has a small interior, complete with opening furnace door. Also, it was inspired a little by the recent Lone Ranger film. More photos:
Who doesn't love shots like this? Ya know, the train about to go off and blow up:
And some horse posing:
The bridge with the sky:
The small inside of the locomotive:
And lastly, some of the figs (me on the left, the rest are bandits):
Huh, I thought I already liked this. I spent a while collecting my jaw from the floor the first time I saw it so I assumed I had tossed a like ;) Anyway, this is insane! Such a crazy build, all the parts just work so well!
I was wondering how this would work as an entry to the Wedding category and then I started thinking about how it really is quite like a leap of faith into the great unknown full of adventure and dread and excitement and fear. Just like a train ride off a rickety bridge. So much win here with outstanding technique and texture. Score = EXTREMELY HIGH 5 (This and Nick's Mustang are my favorite builds in these games so far. Well done!)
A great work of Lego creationism! Now you just need to build the other side and have some superhero come just in time to hold the train from falling so it safely arrives on the other side like the old cliff hangers of early TV serials!
Well, everyone else has already said it, but this is a truly amazing build. One of those that I can't possibly not comment on... Really like the massiveness of the scene, it allows you to get all the necessary detail into this build. I think that the bridge stands out to me the most (maybe because it contains about 10 times the number of brown pieces that I own ;) ). The structure is very impressive. The rockwork also goes well with the scene, it's realistic, but it doesn't draw unnecessary attention away from the train action. Altogether, a stunning piece of Lego work, well done! God bless, ~Promar~
Dude. What?!? I think you just took a seat among my favorite builders. This is absolutely amazing, and trying to understand how you created it and everything else you made in the contest's time constraints is hard to do. Fantastic.
That bridge is epic! Must say that driving off a collapsing bridge in a train with bandits chasing me isn't really my idea of a perfect wedding, but nonetheless quite exciting! ;) Great action shots too!
