First class lounge - Terminal 1 - Idlebrick Airport
About this creation

This is my attempt at a mid century modern MOC and hopefully the first of a few. I sadly don't have the room to build a whole airport so I've got a few ideas of sections I would like to capture in brick form and this was one of them.

I've taken inspiration from several examples of airport and civic building interiors built around the 1950-1960's. I used a more muted colour scheme and took a minimalist approach to the design. I've concentrated more on simple textures with a few sharp angles such as the windows. The wallclock, sloped windows and planters were a common site in alot of the source material I found from that era.

Flight 40, take off! Nice atmosphere! Hope the counter has a door (maybe trapdoor...) or bartenders have to be sporty... ;)

Quoting Marin Stipkovic Love the clock and the angled windows. Well done.
Quoting Stuart Lucas Very eye-catching MOC - I love the angled wall, and the clock is deceptively simple-looking but so effective. Excellent!
Thanks Marin and Stuart, the windows and clock were a common site at that time and it felt essential to try and make them work somehow, even if it took a while to figure out how to make the clock!

Quoting Martin Swan Very well done. The atmosphere of an airport lounge is just spot on! When looking at it I already feel tired and bored and want to get INTO my plane. And that's a meant as a compliment :-) Especially like the placement and expression of the minifigs. BTW: first time that I see reversed placed slopes as woman dresses!
Cheers Martin, I spend quite a bit of time trying out appropriate minifigre combinations, glad you like it!

Quoting Steve Parmley What a time capsule! This model is a joy. I particularly like the combination of hard slopes, gentle curves and textures. The cross-section of travelers is also a nice touch... just what you would expect to see in an airport anywhere. The bar has a great look with all the colors. I also like the back to back palm leaves to form a bush. Very clever. Finally, the overall presentation is framed nicely with a brick-built base, always a pleasing feature of any vignette.
Thanks Steve, I found it harder to make simple patterns interesting to look at, and in some ways this 'simple' looking model took longer to make than many of my larger ones!
