Of all the categories, Helm's deep was the last one I wanted... but hey! I think it turned out great! Not that I like to toot my own horn (is that still an expression?)...
I went for a sort of cutaway, with Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas and the Rohan soldiers atop the wall ready to fight the oncoming Uruk-hai. Then on the bottom I have the glittering caves, where the women and children hide. I wanted to do something different, since I feel like just the wall has been done sooo many times. Anyway, enjoy the pictures!
And some figless shots too...
Just the figs
Gimli returns after the war of the ring with his friend Legolas, so together they may appreciate the beauty of the Glittering Caves.
This build ended up being a lot of fun, I haven't built a castle since... 2014? Even just 2 years seems too long. Thanks for looking, comments and critique always appreciated!
Nice entry! Both you and your opponent made some great scenes. Your build was nice because it featured both the wall and the glittering caves. However, as mentioned in my previous comment, they seem to be a bit too close for my taste; having the two scenes farther apart would have made it look better presentation-wise. As such, my vote goes to your opponent.
Nice MOC! It's awesome that you included the Glittering Caves in this entry, too few people have done that so far, so it realy makes this creation quite unique! The strongest parts about your MOC are in my opinion the wall and the rockwork of the caves! It looks really nice and detailful. However, as someone mentioned below, I think you should have seperated the two scenes better from each other, it looks as if the women were standing in front of the wall not hiding underground. In the end your opponend got my vote because of his really clever and accurate microscale build.
Nice build! I think it might have been better to separate the wall and caves more, to really show the difference; maybe by making the wall taller or adding a 'ground level' at the base of the wall. Good luck in R3!
