Gostok Gerlo
When an old Gostok Alpha is slain, a new one must rise up and take his place! Hello everyone, I'm back with another new MOC, this time of the new heir to the Gostok throne, the youthful Gerlo!
About this creation
Backstory info for the Gostoks can be seen here.

“Why does no one understand that I detest killing? It’s an archaic process! As Alpha, I will employ more sophisticated solutions to problems.”
-Gerlo, the Contenders #21

Gostok Gerlo:
Gerlo is a premature Gostok Alpha and the son of Gerikigil. He carries a great-axe and specialises in slow, heavy attacks. Gerlo was a reluctant fighter and preferred to study academia along with the girls; he was scorned by the other Gostoks because of this. He is open minded and intelligent, though somewhat weedy and submissive. He is in a relationship with one of his old guards, named Gavamond.

Gerlo was born and raised as a Gostok prince, under the instruction of his father, Gerikigil. Despite being obliged to fight, Gerlo objected strongly to it and spent a lot of time with a female Gostok named Gellesyl, from whom he learned science and philosophy. His uncle Gelenjof detested him and Gerikigil, although sympathetic, tried to encourage him to also learn the art of the weapon. Gerlo was keenly guarded by four Gostoks, one of whom, Gostok Gavamond, he fell in love with. The Gostok society, typically less homophobic, accepted this easily, reasoning that a gay couple in the army would make an effective fighting duo; the issue was that Gerlo refused to fight, even when war broke out with. This angered many, leading to many failed assassinations. Towards the end of the war, Gerlo was abducted by Thanatos, along with Gavamond and Gelenjof, in order to preserve specimens of a soon-to-be-extinct species.

Many thousands of years later Edoth, a servant of Thanatos, beseeched his master to return Gerlo and the others to Gerikigil, who had been resurrected by the Gate. Their reunion was at first joyous, but marred when Gerikigil revealed that the Gostoks had lost the war and were wiped out. However, he also told them of the Gate and how they could us it to restore the species to whole again. Around this time, Gerikigil took Gerlo out into Racta Minus and forced him to kill a Toa, a member of the Torm. Gerlo objected at first but was eventually pressured into doing it. He expressed his shame to Gavamond at a later date. Gerlo noticed that they had been followed by Edoth and a band of Toa, and so he and his brothers did battle with them. However, they soon began to lose and so retreated. The group reclaimed the Gate and used it to revive Gostok Gellesyl before being chased away by the Gate’s Guardian. They then met with Bipotron, who allowed them to join the Platonic Justice.

While there, they schemed to retrieve the Gate and use their limbs to resurrect more Gostoks- Gerlo’s father promised to sacrifice his life for this process, claiming that Gerlo would succeed him. Despite this, Gerlo was still uncomfortable about the idea. Gerlo was then approached by Dread, the movement’s leader; at his request, Gerlo chopped off the villain’s arm so that it could be replaced with a weapon. The Gostoks were then encouraged by Mordath to set out and capture the Gate, bringing it back. When they did, the demon took the key from them, promising that they would get to use it once Dread returned. At that point, the camp was attacked by the Contenders, and battle ensued. This resulted in the death of Gerikigil and the destruction of the Gate. Heartbroken, Gerlo and the others retreated from the battlefield.

The Gostoks would soon recover from this, with Gerlo fathering two children with Gellesyl, despite still being in a relationship with Gavamond. When the villainous Shadebringers conquered the city of Racta Major, the Gostoks were invited to take up residence there, and offer which they reluctantly accepted. Gerlo slowly began to become accustomed to this new home, but was set back into discomfort once his children were kidnapped. Gerlo led the investigation into their children’s disappearance, beginning with the interrogation of Sohbec the Shadebringer; this excursion unfortunately yielded naught. Their search was temporarily interrupted by the revolt of the Contenders, one that they still helped to crush. However, Gellesyl soon learned that their children had been mutated into a monstrous servant of Makuta Astrok, one of the four Shadebringers. In an act of revenge, she went into the cell that held the Contenders and freed one of them, allowing him to escape the city.

Given the Gostoks’ hatred of Toa, reactions were mixed; Gerlo eventually supported her, but his uncle Gelenjof was so enraged that he reported Gellesyl to the Shadebringers, getting her incarcerated; when Gerlo found out, he struck Gelenjof in rage, who in turn challenged him to a duel, one that the young Alpha accepted. In the fight, Gelenjof had ostensibly beaten him, but made the mistake of taunting him when he was down, condemning his homosexuality and insulting Gavamond. This enraged Gerlo so much that he sprung up and killed his uncle, something that he later admitted to Gavamond that he regretted.

Gerlo is currently recovering from the duel with a heavy heart.

The front! Obviously the thing I said in my original Gostok post about all Gostok Alphas looking the same has now been retconned, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to make this MOC. Gerlo has still not fully developed yet though; he still has some serious bulking out to do!

The back.

For those who don't know, the Gostoks speak an archaic language which I have chosen to represent with the Norse Futhark, in order to give these characters more flavour.

Fighting Toa Montu. The Toa of Racta Magna and the Gostoks share a long rivalry, stemming from the Toa/Gostok war which occurred many years ago.

Facing Edoth, the one who killed his father, Gerikigil.

Gerlo with his boyfriend, Gavamond.

All my Gostok MOCs! Yes, even the two Okotian Gostoks, whom I have kept assembled all this time, even after the cancellation of the Okoto RPG. Speaking of which, the original creator of that group, the mighty Blizzard -, has created a new RPG- it is called The Island RPG, and I highly encourage that you check it out, because it looks awesome.

That's all folks!

Join the Island RPG! I know this is pretty shameless of me, but I think this'll be a lot of fun with enough people :P (collusioncollusioncollusioncollusion!)

Quoting Flibibibi Hoffmann I respect you for feeling open to have your character be gay. I think that Christians should keep their opinions that may offend many people, especially a group of people, to themselves. I respect Christians, but some can take it too far. Historical context must be put into account too, for at the time, racism and sexism were also amuck. I hope that some day, all people will be able to live in harmony. All people should be accepted for what they cannot control. I'm sorry that the comments have become a religious war. Your MOC should be judged only by it's form, not it's story. That being said, it is a great MOC.
Many thanks Flibibibi (great name btw)- it's unfortunate that this turned out to be so contraversial, but I'm glad that this discussion is being had, and that it's being explored, not just ignored. I don't want to blame Christians though, or religious people in general- I am certain that most are good people, especially seeing all the lovely people on this very site who have religious backrounds. I think it's just a matter of time, when the world at large finally accepts the LGBT community as a legitimate group of people that are here to stay. That's enough jabbering from me though- I'm glad you liked the MOC! :D

Quoting Lord Duck "Duckie" Of The Pond Look, I like the MOC, I honestly do. And, not all Christians do have the same opinion on this subject, but I can't help wanting to do what I believe is right. I'm not against you, or the people that engage in that sort of lifestyle, but I'm against the lifestyle itself.
I could sort of tell you weren't trying to being malicious in your comments, so I didn't want to be too harsh on you, despite how strongly I feel on the subject. I can see this exchange is causing us both grief, so I'm happy to agree to disagree if you are :)

Quoting Ekorak (Entropy) Alright. Here's my two cents on this issue. I couldn't care less what Wertman wants to put in his pictures. I'm a reasonably devoted Christian but last I checked we weren't living in the dark ages. This has become a part of everyday life for so many people and the fact that some seem to disregard them, seeing them as "lesser" or their way of life as invalid honestly and truly makes me sick. Think twice about what you say - or you may just end up with enemies. And there are some enemies you DON'T want to have. Fun MOC though, Wertman. His overall style isn't really my cup of tea but he's alright. I really like the axe and the thighs. The head is a bit jarring though - the weird gap in front of the eyes just looks weird and I don't really like it. Overall pretty decent though! :D
Hey man- thanks for your thoughts. I'm glad you liked the MOC- the wierd gap in front of his eyes? Do you mean the open socket? I don't think I have enough ball pieces to fill them in on all my Gostok characters :P But still, thanks.

Quoting RaptorTalon ~ All of this over a minuscule story related image...Just let people do whatever they want and keep your personal views to yourself, They may be a large part of who you are and what defines your tastes and opinions, however this is not a place to discuss ethics. This is a just a page on a obscure website. Just let it pass by.
Can't argue there :P

I don't care what the law says is legal, I go by what the Bible says.
Even if the law was against it, it wouldn't stop me putting up that picture- I do it in appreciation of the people I know- and to be frank, it doesn't bother me what it goes against.

I respect the MOC, and the MOCer, but I highly disagree with the lifestyle that is portrayed in the picture. I would not feel comfortable with that.
I appreciate the respectful way in which you've expressed yourself, though I must say: regardless of what any of us may think, it's still a real thing that people do and deserves to be represented just as much as any straight relationship.

Quoting Sean /EMMSixteenA4 Gerlo looks brilliant, Wertman. I already rated a 5. Commenting for a different reason. Apologies for the disruption.
Quoting Lord Duck "Duckie" Of The Pond A I am HIGHLY against the third to last picture. Good build tho.
Out of respect for Wertman, can I talk to you privately somewhere? One on one?
Thanks for the comment- I apologise for all of this-

Quoting Dark Aeon Nice update to Gerlo. He's becoming quite bulky, which fits him. I personally feel that he could use a bigger shield, as the small(ish) shield with a bigger MOC means it becomes more accessory than functional. It will be interesting to see how his becoming an Alpha plays out in you stories.
Thanks Aeon! Yes, the shield is a little small- I wanted that sense of uniformity among the Gostoks with the shields, but I guess it should be bigger- not that a small shield isn't practical, it can be used to block blows in close combat, but still- Thanks again, and you'll definitely see more from the Gostoks in future stories!
