Deck O: This area is dominated by the “strongback”, which takes the bulk of the ship’s structural stresses. Down the centre is a unique Jeffries tube of a type seen on the Defiant in “In a Mirror, Darkly”. On each side is more of the standard equipment we have previously seen: subspace field generators, coolant tanks, matter synthesizers, etc.

Deck P: These corridors are once again from “In a Mirror, Darkly” and provide access to the ship’s main plasma relays. Just before the landing deck are the attachment points for the warp pylons. Aft is flight operations, looking aft from above the landing deck. Above it is a navigational beacon.
Malcolm Reed is about to get jumped by a Gorn in the mirror universe. Behind them is the thingamajig that Phlox later tries to deactivate.
Deck Q: Turbocar maintenance, deflector control, engineering upper level, mess hall, plasma conduits, landing bay observation galleries. The engineering complex is quite complicated and asymmetrical. This was to accommodate various on-screen elements such as the Jeffries tube immediately outside of main engineering (which I am treating as a circuit bay), and the emergency manual monitor room, which looks out over the warp core from port.
The Emergency Manual Monitor room, seen in episodes such as ”Mirror, Mirror”, “I, Mudd” and “The Lights of Zetar”, makes use of the console from the Auxiliary Control room.
Deck R: Main engineering, flight lounge, landing deck. Many fan-made deck plans extend the landing bay underneath the engine pylons, which to me seems structurally unsound. The hull isn’t an exoskeleton and I feel it would need strong internal supports to stiffen the pylons, regardless of structural integrity fields. Furthermore, Jeffries’ sketches are very clear about the size of the landing bay. So it’s actually fairly small, with the hangar accessed via a rotating elevator pad, not through a couple of roll-up doors under the pylons. We do see such an arrangement in STV on the Enterprise-A, but the refit class engine pylons are attached to the secondary hull much farther forward.
Having said that, I chose to place the engine room quite a bit further forward, rather than just underneath or in front of the pylon assembly. Partly this was to prevent major damage to the warp systems should a shuttlecraft lose control and smash into the bulkhead. It also takes better advantage of the ventral markings. Alongside main engineering on one side is a turboshaft serving the aft areas. On the other side is the dilithium control room, which I felt needed to be close to the warp core (as it is in Wrath of Khan).

Deck S: Navigational Deflector machinery, water tanks and waste reclamation, four science labs, lower warp core, hangar deck, shuttle elevator, ion pods. The Enterprise carries four standard F-class shuttles: the Columbus, Einstein, Copernicus, and of course the Galileo. This area was designed to accommodate the elevator/turntable, with four shuttle berths and a transfer aisle so that any one of them could be moved to the elevator pad. The Ion Pod, which can be jettisoned in an emergency, is from the TOS episode “Court-Martial”.

The arboretum is shown in several episodes, but it changes appearance. This first version, which I am calling hydroponics, was simply a redress of Sickbay.
The second version was a larger set with distinctive achitecture. To fill the available space I mirrored the floor plan. This also counts as the final science lab (there are 14 altogether).

The cargo pods are the same ones seen the The Motion Picture – it’s only a few years before so if the Enterprise didn’t have them originally, it certainly could have been adapted for them.
Deck U: Subspace transceivers, fabrication room, damage control, antimatter pods, deuterium tank, lower cargo room, aft phaser control room. TOS never shows us any aft-firing weapons, but the refit version is adequately covered with nine phaser banks so as to not have any blind spots. Still, it’s logical to assume that there must be some aft weapons, and various fan-made series have placed weapons ports in this area. We do see the Defiant firing aft phasers and torpedoes in “In a Mirror, Darkly” but they certainly shouldn’t be coming out of the navigational beacon over the flight control room. In fact the torpedo shot is definitely an error according to Doug Drexler, who intended them to come from the little port between the impulse engines. But I find that problematic as well, as that is exactly where the turboshaft goes.
A few novelties awaiting long-term storage: the M4 robot from “Requiem for Methuselah”; Nomad from “The Changeling”; and, on an anti-grav sled, the recorder buoy of the S.S. Valiant from “Where No Man Has Gone Before”.
The lower markings have always been something of a mystery.
I’ve made the forward yelllow circle a hatch for the antimatter pods.
Next is the deuterium tank fill port.
Behind that is the lower cargo bay, which is seen in TOS-R.
Finally, we have the main tractor beam emitter with the aft phasers above.
I know there must be things I forgot or didn’t find room for, like the gymnasium from “Charlie X” or the elusive bowling alley. If you think of anything else let me know and I’ll come up with a “reason” for not having it!
