Inspired by and mostly taken from instructions by Zephyr1934 for converting the 2014 set 60052 into a model like set 10219 (Maersk Train). The wheels, however, are modified from Anthony Sava's Alco MRS-1 diesel loco, turning this GP-40 styled loco into a simplified version of the Electro Motive Division type SD40 diesel electric locomotive.
However, the railroads I made this into (CONRAIL) never bought any SD40's, so I made it into a more modern Dash 2 sub-type of the SD40. No real changes to the body were made for this to look accurate. The difference between the two is (I think, I may be wrong) the engines were up-rated and electric systems were modernized.
The name CONRAIL goes on the long hood in printed 1 x 1 tiles, while the the number 6525 goes on the short hood. Why 6525? Well, CONRAIL's SD40-2 series ended at 6524, so this fictional loco is one beyond that.
The cab of the engine features seating for one figure, and two opening doors, one on either side of the locomotive.
The CONRAIL logo. (I got this from Wikipedia and it is NOT MINE!)
