About this creation
My opponent in this round is the ever-talented Oliver Becker .
We are in Backet 2 and our prompt is this: "Worst Day of my life – Let’s all admit it. The only thing that brightens up a bad day is knowing that someone else had it worse. Create a story (it can be a story tower or a series of builds) of the worst day in your life". I chose to build a story tower, my first one ever, and realized early on that gravity is a pain in the neck.

The first thing I saw when I woke this morning was a giant spider crawling on the wall just above my bed. Complete and utter panic is not the best way to wake up, especially when you realize you're already late for work.

This is why, 20 minutes later, I was running frantically after the bus as it pulled out of the stop. I had missed it by mere seconds, and the next bus was still 30 minutes away. (In case you're wondering, this is a MUNI bus from San Francisco).

Once I got to work, I stood like an idiot waiting for the elevator doors to close, not noticing the tiny orange cone indicating I'd have to take the stairs up 12 floors.

Once in my office, I sat down and collected myself. It had been a tough morning, but now I was at work and could check Moc-pages to see who I was up against in Round 2 of the MocOlympics.

"Oliver Becker!?! NOOOOOOO! He's a Lego magician! I'm no match!!!"

A few minutes later I ran into James and Pamela, two of my co-workers. They heard me yelling and wondered what it was about. I explained to them about my Lego hobby. "Oh, so you build like little castles and things?" said James. Pamela added "Oh, that's cute! My four-year old niece loves legos too!"

Just then, the spider from this morning popped out of the photocopier and James and Pamela scattered, to my silent joy.

I deduced the spider must have hitched a ride with me this morning.

After work, I went to the Lego Store to pick up some olive cheese slopes from the PAB wall. They were out, so I bought some dark red instead.

Unfortunately, when I was walking on the second level of he mall, I tripped and spilled all my dark red cheese slopes over the railing.

"Like wow, man, it's raining part 54200s!"

Finally I was home and could work on my build for the contest. I really hope this thing doesn't tip over!

Thanks for visiting everybody! Good luck in Round 2!

This must have been tough to judge... I really like that building a story tower is a scene in your story tower! A good mise en abime - pardon my french ;-)
Too bad it didn't pass, but keep up the good job!
Thanks! |

Thanks so much Joe! I really love your build because of authenticity of humor you've put in and at all: you're a good sport, my friend! Olympics mean: no looser, true to the olympic motto: to be present is what counts! ;) Aaand: Sooner or later I may hear my own words... LOL |

I have to say that seeing a story tower on a story tower was truly brilliant. I love how both of you essentially built the same sort of thing, I give you my vote in that I prefer the tower aspect more than Oliver's set up. Fantastic job, Joe! |

Wow, this was a really tough match to judge! You both had great stories and builds to back them up! The story tower is very well done, as is the story tower. Bit of inception there. Unfortunately I have to pick one of you and my vote goes to your opponent for the detail and zanyness in his build. Very good work and you came really close! Thanks for participating and making me work for my non-paying job! |

Great job! I like how the build and story flow. Your opponent though, on sure volume and creative craziness of the build(s), has won my vote. Good Luck with the other judges! Again great build.
Thanks! |

I love this! The story is great (not that I'm glad that it happened but well written and goes with the build well) and I also like how the build stacks up. Don't turn on the fan :) |

Love it! Seriously, great! The story is just hilarious, and I think we all know what telling peers about Lego can be like.Ö also, your lucky with a spider on the wall, once I woke up with a slug..... IN my bed. *shivers* keep it up!~ JD the Lego owl |

Awesome build! Very clean, and entertaining story! |

Haha, this is great. Neat how you got the different sized levels to stack together. That feel when you wake up to a spider over your bed. :/ |
