Introducing G1 Bumblebee! I’m really pleased with how he came out as I feel he looks more like a VW Bug than my previous attempt and his robot mode is a significant improvement. As with my other vehicle Transformers, he fits a minifigure in Bug mode. Details include headlights, taillights, doors that open, and a trunk that opens to reveal the “engine”. Bee transforms from VW Bug to Autobot scout without the addition or removal of any parts. I hope to build him in the next couple of months as I am slowly working on real brick versions of all my LDD Transformers. Enjoy and feel free to rate, comment and ask questions!
About this creation
Vehicle mode...

Begin transformation (and watch minifig run away screaming as his rounded ride becomes more than meets the eye)…

First, open the trunk to reveal the “engine”…

Lower an arm from the underside of the vehicle…

Swing the back side of the vehicle out…

Repeat on the other side…

Open top of vehicle…

Open doors…

Unfold leg and bring foot up…

Spread leg out a bit and unfold secondary hinge (to make upper thigh look bulkier)…

Repeat with other leg…

Bring top of vehicle back…

Fold down windshield…

Stand him up…

Unfold arms…

Fold down trunk…

Rotate sides of helmet to form “horns”…

Lift head up and the transformation is complete…

I borrowed several design elements from my G1 Sunstreaker. Overall, I am happy with the end result. Here are some action poses…

Bye and thanks for watching! Please feel free to rate, comment and ask questions!

Quoting Michael Crichton Good moc, but the black background on the LDD screen shots makes it really difficult to see the black parts. I'd recommend using a different background color, or if there's an option to outline that could work too.
Thanks! I'll be working on a brick built version soon so hopefully that will help.

Quoting Joshua C. I'm excited to see the brick build version :D. Very clever transformation.
Thanks! I'm almost done my KITT Transformer and Sunstreaker so Bumblebee is next. I've already redesigned his hood as I wasn't completely happy with VW mode. It seems there is always something to improve :)

Quoting Nick Barrett Great job, especially at the size this is - so compact and so much for it to do!
Thanks Nick! Yes, it's always a challenge building Transformers at Minifig scale. Glad you like him!

Quoting VAkkron ™ Great work! This is definitely something I want to try my hand at one day, and this Bumblebee is especially creative. I'm surprised I've never seen a transforming VW Beetle-like car before!
Thanks so much! It is definitely a challenge to create the VW shape. I was somewhat successful, but it could be better. I would love to see a version from you!
