ART!
About this creation
Our latest photography assignment is Photography as Installation and is part of the Art in Odd Places event in Orlando and at my college. We went to this so-called garden and were all pretty disappointed by how much garden it was not. I looked around and found some trees on the other side of a path.

There was this dead spot under the trees that were surrounded by plants except for that one spot, so I decided to add some 3741s with 3742s because that dead spot needed some love.

I printed out some large photos of flowers. And then installed them.

They don't look all too bad form a distance. They blend in quite nicely and are very subtle. Who knew LEGO flowers were so realistic?!

I also added a name card like you would find at a flower garden, so using the Design IDs are much like seeing a Latin name for a species.

These flowers are about 14 inches tall, so a whole lot bigger than regular LEGO flowers.

Thanks for checking this out, I know it's been awhile since I've uploaded something.

I can understand why you weren't sure :-) But to me personally, this is very much one of the things MOCpages is all about. While it may not be an actual MOC (as MOCs are defined), you still took some pictures of LEGO-pieces and used them in an seriously original way. I can see why it might be seen by some as being on the line, but to me it's certainly on the right side of it :-)

Quoting Builder Allan Hehe, very original! I saw the link to this in the MP help group, and was curious to see why you thought it might not be within the rules of MOCpages. Seeing it, i would say this is absolutely within the rules - it's a brilliant use of lego-pieces, even if they are printed on paper :-)
Technically not a MOC, I guess. I mean, I do have the one image of flowers that I printed out later and tacked on for the sign, so that would count. It's just one of those things that is on the line and I wasn't sure about it. If I had built the whole thing out of bricks, that would be different. It feels like a very gray area to me with it just being images and not being actual pieces. I was curious how legal this post was.

Quoting VAkkron ™ I'm impressed by the rigidity of the flowers. That was some good trimming work to get rid of all the excess paper. Pretty inventive, I like it.
There is some help with a bit of cardboard, the occasional wire, and some steel rods on the ones with one stem sticking way out there. After enough humidity, they started curling back.

Quoting Deus "Big D." Otiosus Wait. It is paper? I thought it was photoshop.
Quoting Lord Duck Feared Protector of the Pond Cool! Big D: me too!
100% real. If I had photoshopped them in, they'd look REALLY bad. What is great though, is that from just a far enough distance, with the subtle movements in the wind, they looked completely real until you focused. A bunch of people even walked by pretty much oblivious to their existence, even some of my own classmates were looking for my work and didn't even realize that this was it.

Quoting David Roberts Fun, original and very creative. They do look good and very much at home in that setting. I'm also very envious of the printer that you have access to.
Thanks. It's usually not my goto machine. Rolls are not my usual printing paper, but now that I know how it works a little better, it is quite nice.
