About this creation
Entry for contest:
Third annual 8 piece building challenge

A quadrupedal space exploration vehicle capable of carrying an astronaut and supplies over difficult terrain. The legs are mounted in such a way that they can all be rotated.

Parts List:

30211Support Leg Small (Insectoids)4 off, Dark Grey
30376Legs Mechanical, Battle Droid2 off, Light Bluish Grey

Some additional pictures with a minifig (not part of the 8-piece entry) to demonstrate its suitability for a minifig and to give some context for how this vehicle could be used:

Now if only it had been a 15-part contest, I could have added some controls, a radio antenna, a power light, the guy's packed lunch, and a laser blaster...

Itsy-bitsy spider! A tasty classical lean production, DD! ;)

That is a really good background! You got the ship perfectly oriented. I am trying to do something like that in my own personal builds, but can't get it as good as you did it! Very creative design, too!

Quoting Nick Barrett Neat, slightly fewer parts than you normally use...
LOL, yeah it was a treat not to have to worry about render complexity for once. I'm making up for it on my next model that I'm currently preparing images for. Around 170000 parts. The rendering for the video is probably going to show up in the next electricity bill.

Quoting Deus "Big D." Otiosus But I own real life DBG droid legs...
Yes, I could have gone for black or dark grey, but I wanted a contrasting colour to the other parts used to more clearly delineate where one part ends and the next part starts (since renders aren't as good quality as photos).

Quoting Deus "Big D." Otiosus The concept is fine, but why would you use light gray legs in LDD, if you literally have unlimited bricks and colours?
Many builders, and many contests for that matter, prefer to only use parts in known available colours, as some people consider it "cheating" otherwise.
