Growing up I had a Commodore 64 (very old school computer for the younger folks) and it had a game called 'Rat Race' that I played a lot, probably one of my favorites along with Frogger, Threshold, Centipede, Catastrophe, Dragonfly, Jungle Hunt, and of course, Pac-Man. Anyway, the object is classic trope of the mouse running to get the cheese before being caught by the rats. Last night I got to thinking about mazes for some reason while contemplating my cubes. So, taking my d6 design from Fun with Shapes - Dice, I decided to make a try at a 3D maze, when it popped into my head to include this bit of my personal favorites.
Originally I was just going to use one of the trophy figures for this, but the dovetail with the old video game was just too good to pass up on. You'll see the mouse (friends mouse was nicer than the classic LEGO mouse) in the green start, and the small cheese yellow wedge in the red finish for a prize.
To play, you need to realize that you can only jump sides between open walls to the corresponding spot on the next face of the cube. There are multiple correct solutions, but that's because I wasn't trying to make it hard, just fun to play with.
(Update: I did notice the one or two maze issues with this and they've been corrected, but I didn't feel it warranted a new upload of pictures for it.)
