LCBTC R1: Danger in the Mine
About this creation

Category: Mining Incident

Puzzle time! "Five miners charged out of the shaft" as the water rushed in behind them. "Jeb was not the first out. Cain was nether first nor last. John Henry pushed out immediately behind Jeb. Preach wasn't second out. Zane was two men behind Preach. In what order did the men race from the mine?" (I didn't invent the puzzle; it's from Visual Brainstorms.)

Who's first?

Second?

Third, fourth, fifth?

One last shot through the cracks in the side:

This build pretty well exhausted my supply of tan slopes... particularly inverted slopes. I left the top open mostly to let the light in for photography... you're welcome to assume that it's a cut out, or you can assume that that's the way the actual mine is. Whatever floats your boat. ;)

Oh, and since you're all dying to know the answer to the puzzle...
"Preach was first; Cain was second; Zane was third; Jeb was fourth; and John Henry was last... Based on the question we can establish; Jeb, Cain, John Henry and Zane were not first; therefore, Preach must have been first. Immediately, Zane was third. If John Henry was right behind Jeb, then they must take the only two adjacent spots, fourth and fifth. Cain finally settles into the only remaining open spot, second place."
Did you get it right? :D

Thanks for looking!

Quoting Classical Bricks I really like the desert-like feel to this build; the colorscheme is awesome! There are some great techniques as well, like the lantern design. The wooden support structure inside is also really good. Oh, and I got the puzzle correct! ;D Thanks for entering!
Thank you for the contest! :D That lantern is a favorite design of mine, though it originated with one of my brothers!

Quoting Doug Hughes A wonderful build! I'm glad to see another mine in the mix!
Thank you! Yep, it looks like Wizard's Workshop was by far the preferred category this round!
Quoting Sir Flexalot Awesome!
Thanks!
Quoting Jacob Syrups Great work! I like how the olive green and the tan combine to give it a dry dusty feel. Also, I'm so proud of myself for getting that riddle right! :D
Great job! :D And thank you - that's about what I was going for! Hey, come to think of it, I could have included a cactus or two...
Quoting Hildigrim Took It's awesome how we both built for the same category, we're both building floods too, and yet our builds look very different! Great work here, I like it a lot :) The mine cart is nice, I had a fun time trying to build one for my MOC!
Thanks Hildigrim! Looking forward to seeing yours!
