Training 05-20-17
Recruit Joe meets with Captain Robert McDaniel from Task Force 1 who will be today's training officer.
About this creation

Recruit Joe shows the skills he has learned so far while Captain Robert overlooks his techniques and abilities.

Firefighter Jake shows Recruit Joe the ground ladder complement. Here, Recruit Joe is removing a 24 ft extension ladder from the rig.

Captain Robert shows Recruit Joe the standard issue Sperian Warrior 30 min Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) that all firefighters wear when battling the red devil.

Firefighter Jake shows the Holmatro spreaders (Yes, I know it's supposed to be orange, but all I had was either gray or black).

Apparatus Operator Dave shows Recruit Joe a sledgehammer and bolt cutters for forcible entry into locked buildings or breaking through fences to access the fire building.

Firefighter Noel shows Recruit Joe the primary forcible entry tools: the Halligan and an ax.

Captain Robert and AO Dave show the 6 ft hook used for checking for fire extension.

Captain Robert shows the various fire extinguishers carried by truck companies.

AO Dave shows the crowbar to help with opening doors and windows.

Here, Recruit Joe is educated on the use of chainsaws for roof ventilation purposes.

Lastly, Engineer Kayla and Captain Robert display one of the three Positive Pressure Ventilation (PPV) fans the truck company carries to assist with displacing toxic smoke and fumes from the building.

Today, recruits had the wonderful opportunity to be taught basic tools on the truck company. The pictures show members of Task Force 1 educating Recruit Joe Smith on some tools found on a truck company, including ground ladders, extraction equipment, forcible entry tools, and saws. Recruit Joe also had the unique chance to climb the 100' ladder! It looks like recruit Joe is ready for the next step in becoming a firefighter!

Quoting Matt Jacobsen I love seeing the tiller in action! Great work! You should do a classic incident with your classic trucks!
Thank you! That is an excellent idea Matt! I'll have to look into getting some of the classic PPE and equipment.
