I only recently noticed that I hadn't previously uploaded this MOC, having been originally bundled with the Destroyer's Three and not receiving a revamp like the other two. So, given that I'm running late with Contenders (I'm a bum bum), here's a reupload! :D
About this creation
“There’s no point in doing someone else’s work unless you can have fun while doing it. You shouldn’t waste your life for their sake; they won’t thank you for it.”
-Mordath, The Contenders #18
Mordath is a pot-bellied demon and a member of the Destroyer’s Three, the demonic servants of Thanatos. While he primarily wields fire like the rest of Thanatos’ entourage, Mordath prefers the art of sorcery, for its tricky and deceptive nature. Mordath is perhaps the cruellest and most sadistic of the Destroyer’s Three, loving to manipulate and psychologically crush just about anyone that gets in his way. Though he effectively carries out his duties for Thanatos, he is not above the pursuit of hedonism, or any chance for malicious mischief.

Mordath was the first of the Destroyer’s Three to be created, and was at first deployed by Thanatos as a formless mist to do his bidding. Mordath wandered the universe performing his delegated tasks, before creating a biomechanical form to ease the burden; he deliberately chose the form of a gnarled old troll so that he could frighten any mortal who came near him. At one point, Mordath abandoned Thanatos after an argument and sought out a place for him to settle down; he conquered a Matoran village and spent several years growing fat off the villagers’ squalor. However, eventually he was overthrown by a group Toa, and he ashamedly returned to Thanatos, re-entering his service.

Shortly afterwards, Mordath accompanied Thanatos and the others to a planet named Racta Magna, for it housed a mystical object known as the Gate, a portal linking the world of the living to the world of the dead; its potential for resurrection served as a detriment to their cause, and so sought to destroy the Gate and Racta Magna with it. However, they were opposed by two factions, the monolithic Guardian of the Gate and a team of heroes known as the Toa Racta; the latter group knew that they could not stop Thanatos by force, and so instead tricked him, trapping both him and his minions in a black hole. They remained trapped for many years, before finally being freed by a Makuta named Reshak, who enslaved them under threat of being put back there again.
Mordath fighting the Guardian of the Gate (Contenders #10)
The Destroyer’s Three set out with Reshak’s minions to retrieve the Gate, so that it could be used to resurrect his father, Aroxion; while they retrieved the Gate itself, the key required to activate it was stolen by a Toa team named the Contenders. They rested near the city of Racta Major, waiting to rendezvous with Reshak and Thanatos; they then attacked the city and won the key off the Contenders, but at the last moment, Thanatos turned on Reshak and defeated him, losing the Gate. Thanatos and one of his servants, Migor, set off on some unknown task while Mordath and his brother Edoth were charged with retrieving the Gate and destroying it. While they were meant to work as one, the two of them split off, seeing who could reach the Gate first.
Returning to Racta Magna. (Contenders #18)
Seeing a chance for mischief, Mordath sought out the Gate using the former servants of Reshak, Dukrina and Apothrahk; he crafted an explosive shaped like the hand of Aroxion and dropped it down on their heads. The duo, fooled into thinking it was a chance to resurrect the Makuta, hurried out in search of the Gate; Mordath followed close behind them, with an entourage of Dark Hunters at his service. Along the way, Mordath was antagonised by the Contenders, with whom Edoth had joined forces; despite this distractions, it was Mordath who first got his hands on the Gate, whom he brought to Dukrina and Apothrahk. They obliviously threw the detonator in, seemingly destroying the Gate. Sufficiently smug, Mordath accompanied Edoth back to Thanatos.
Mordath and his Dark Hunters. (Contenders #21)
However, this was not the end of the Gate: four spirits were freed in the destruction, villains who came to be known as the Shadebringers. They defeated the Contenders with ease, conquering Racta Major in the aftermath. Given they were meant to be dead, Thanatos and the Destroyer’s Three returned to Racta Magna and gave the Shadebringers a cease-and-desist, only to be arrogantly laughed off. Thanatos almost considered letting it slide and leaving the Shadebringers to their dominion, though Edoth, who had bonded with the Racta Magnans over time, convinced him otherwise. Thus, they assembled an army of rebels known as the Champions of Day and aided the Contenders in defeating the Shadebringers and saving the planet.

After friendly goodbyes, in which arrogant Mordath did not partake, the Destroyer’s Three returned with their master back to the stars, to continue their morbid charge until the end of time.
One of the reasons this is in fact a reupload rather than a revamp is that I just like this MOC too much! There really isn't anything glaring to me that I would change at all- though I trust that if you guys see anything you don't like you'll let me know! :D
The back. Yeah, I should probably replace that Huna, though it fits him so well from the front!
No weapons, so straight to action poses!
Another thing I like about this MOC is its pose-ability, which is surprisingly great considering how short and pudgy he is.
Height comparison with Storm Beast- hope a new CCBS line comes out in 2018, getting a bit sick of using the same sets over and over again!
Mordath vs Montu!
With the Dark Hunters he hired in Contenders Book 2- though most of them look quite different now, what with the events of Book 3 and all.
With Edoth and Migor- the Destroyer's Three all together!
Stood with his master, Thanatos.
That's all, folks!
Apologies for the re-upload, I appreciate it's not terribly interesting, though it should be good for those who didn't see it.
'bout 60% of the way through Contenders, will be up during the week.
