LCBTC Round 3: Klisforthori Castle
About this creation
Category: Castle with a Function
Category Description: Functional castle builds are rare, and for good reason - they tend to be challenging. Build a medieval castle that includes a function. Ideas include collapsing walls, working catapults, a working gatehouse and drawbridge, and so on. The more creative and functional, the better! The requirements are that you build at least some part of a castle, and of course add some awesome functions! Be sure to include a video of the functions in action!

Klisforthori Castle:

An ancient fortress inhabited by samurai and their families, Klisforthori is well known for its famous arch and for the massive stone gateway which protects the entrance to the castle.

The guards above look out for danger...

While the passersby go about their daily business.

Treasure hunters can be found everywhere (and so can Ronin, apparently, XP)

Hmm, well, I think I see why no one else seems to be doing this category! :P Quite the complicated build, and really, this is only about a third of what I have (wasn't able to finish the rest in time). Most of the functions are in this section, however, which are:
Moving road
Closing Portcullis
Opening and Closing Drawbridge
Catapult (yes, no pictures of that, and unfortunately it can't be seen too well in the video below - I can't say it was anything to boast of, however, :P Modeled somewhat after TLG's typical castle catapult)
Collapsing Wall (activated by spring-loaded missile in the base - and definitely my personal favorite, XD)

Overview (and here you can see some of the handles for the various functions):

And lastly, a link to the video showing the functions.
Very sorry for the poor picture quality throughout - light was running out and with the rain outdoors wasn't an option, so I just had to make do with what I had! Almost didn't enter when I saw how poorly the pics and video turned out, but figured I probably ought to go ahead, haha! Enjoy, and stay tuned for more (and better!) pictures and probably video on my Flickr when I finish the build up!

Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!

Nice mix of functions. Personally, I'm so used to putting various functions in my castles that I didn't really contemplate that they're considered rare, well at least as far as the working drawbridges and catapults, particularly since Lego has been including things like that since the late 80's/early 90's.

Arg! Did MOCpages lose my like... Or worse did I forget to like?? Anyway, great build, I'm really glad someone else did a functional build too! You packed so much action in, but still had a nicely detailed wall and other great touches!
