Hi guys! Today I wanted decided to upload something that I finished a few weeks ago: My UCS version of the Mining guild TIE fighter.
A fellow LUG member made one last year and it looked so awesome, I really wanted to make one myself. After some designing with LDD and some trial and error building I present the result today.
The reason why it took me so long to upload it, was due to the facts that I wanted to make some stickers for the model, like the logo’s for the wings for example…
After searching in a lot of stores I am still unable to find the quality paper I want for these stickers, so I uploaded it without them.
Let’s take a closer look ;)
About this creation
This is where the initial design began: the wings. These set the model apart from other TIE Fighters with the destinctive cutout in the wings.
The only thing "wrong" with the version of my friend was the angle of this cutout. He used 3x1 or 4x1 wedgeplates.
By the end of 2016 Lego brought out a new wedge plate: the 2x1 which was the perfect angle for this model.
This was the end of the design stage. I figured out the rest of the wing with some trial and error building
On to the finished model then: The cockpit is the same as the original model, but I changed most light bluish grey parts for yellow ones
Here you see the cutouts in the wings a little better. I really love how these turned out!
Close-up of the cockpit. The stickers you see here came from some other sets and really look good on this model.
The funny thing about these wings is that this front piece is only connected with the hinge on top, but when you place it against the wedge plates though…
… it locks in place like this and it doesn’t move 😊
This was achieved with some stupid luck while finishing of the wings with some help of my buddy Tom at a Brickmania event.
Here’s a look at the interior. I added some extra computers in there
Here a some of the reference pictures I used. You can also see what I still want to do with the stickers for the side of the wings
Here you see Tom and me working on the TIE during a local BELUG event.
Tom also brought his Azure Angel, an updated version of my version from a few years ago 😉
That’s it guy’s, I hope you all like this model and I probably will do more UCS versions of different TIE variants in the future 😉
Hi Erik! Yes I do still have the incomplete LDD file fot the wings. The stickers for the wings sadly we're not a succes so it's still sits like it looks here on the pics.
There is a UCS style sticker available though at ultimatecollectorstickers.co.uk based on my model ;) << Quoting Erik Wachtmeister
Fantastic build. It really pops in yellow at UCS scale. Any chance the complete (or incomplete) LDD file is still available? Did you ever have success with the stickers?
The series grew on me... At first I didn't like it, because Clone Wars was cancelled by it. What I do like about both series though are the fighters and other vehicles. These are mostly badass and are nice to build MOC's from ;)

Very nice! I've never seen this variant because I don't like Star Wars rebels.
