Wow, that was tough. Building up to the wire, and all set up to take pics before realising I'd missed sails off the ship. No matter! Make the blighters row to Gondor and earn their grog.
I enjoyed this, despite knowing bog all about Umbar. Reading up, I learned that Umbar is a great city in the south, built atop a natural harbour of cliffs by men of Numenor but overrun by dark powers in later years. I thought that area of Middle Earth looked like the Mediterranean countries so that was where I went for inspiration.
This build represents the sea-gate (I made it up, don't go looking for it), a great bridge that once spanned the cliffs of the bay to shield against pirate attack, now fallen into disrepair and choked with shanties under the idle domain of Umbar.
Again - I wish I had more time. I like the boat, and the arches, and I'm reasonably pleased with the cliff (a useful technique for rocks when time is short), but the detailing is sloppier than I wanted and the bridge is much smaller. Ah well. At least I finally bought in some trans-blue tiles!
Best of luck to Mr Unknown - I can't wait to see what spin you put on this category - and once more unto the judging, dear friends, once more.
These are the right colors, very nice bridge and some funny gimmicks! Also the boat works well, even a corsairs- ship would hase been better. But the resources, the time, a.s.o.a.o. ... LOL I know this all very well... ;) I like this MOC in it's coherence, even I don't know the one of your opponent! But this would be never a reason of likin' a MOC!
