"Otter" Light Amphibious Reconnaissance Vehicle
About this creation
I couldn't figure out which turret I liked more, so here is both..
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In a Country as vast as Tarakia, it's bound to have several different regions and terrain types, and all of them are packed with lakes, rivers, dams, and fjords, meaning that a vehicle which can traverse through water is essential to a well structured battle plan. While an invading enemy would have to use bridges and natural crossing points, the Otter can pass through any body of water, and flank round to cause havoc behind enemy lines.

Having virtually no armour, this unit can be penetrated by .50 cal round easily, except from the front, due to the heavy sloping. It does pack quite a punch though, sporting a 90mm high velocity, auto loaded cannon, that can fire both high explosives, and a fin stabilized anti tank shell. Deploying this unit requires a certain degree of planning, as it's extremely vulnerable.

Even though quite adept at it's combat role, it's main job, is reconnaissance. Being able to cross large expanses of water, up to 100 miles, it can take much shorter routes than it's land based counterparts. The Otter can zip along at a moderate 12mph in water due to two hydrojets mounted at the rear of the tank, which are hidden behind two hydraulic flaps that fold down, and act as rudders when in the water. Two smaller water jets are installed, one on either side of the hull at the rear, to assist with turning in the water, and also allow it to reverse. The trim vane at the front is raised to deflect water away from the drivers periscope when afloat. Hollow wheels also add to this vehicles excellent buoyancy.

The crew of three, which include a commander, a gunner, and a driver, are kept in a Safe Shell in the hull, while the turret, gun, and ammunition are all mounted up top. This design is intended to give the crew a greater chance of survival.

The smooth turret is nice, reminds me of the old Soviet BMP APCs.

Cool! Nice design. I'm not sure which turret i like the most, but the smooth one would be an interesting new design to test in combat compared to the more traditionally shaped ones :-)

Very cool vehicle, and I really like the story behind it. Both turrets look great, but I prefer the smooth look of the rounded one.

I like the low profile of both of these! I like the round one better though.
