Bell 301 (XV-15) tiltrotor
About this creation
This Bell model 301 tilt-rotor first flew in May 1977 and later developed into the V-22 Osprey. Only two prototypes were ever built, and the model is frequently called the XV-15 (the “X” designating “experimental”). In the digital rendering of my model here on mocpages, I replicated the color scheme of the second prototype aircraft which NASA acquired (see picture below). My design here of the XV-15 is 282 Lego elements, and the engines / rotors on the tips of the wings tilt up (as shown in 'helicopter' mode) or forward (in 'airplane' mode).
