Tales on Tatooine: Maul arrives on Tatooine seeking revenge against his nemesis, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
About this creation
So here is the whole diorama. A little harder to play with since I was staying semi-accurate to match the show. But really there isn't going on in the scene. It's all flat and very little is in the scene except the two characters. So yes there are a few additional details I've added just to bring a bit more to the vig.
Normally in these Tales on Tatooine posts I say that I've yet to watch Rebels Season 4 so no spoilers, but thanks to my pal MClegoboy, I have infact now finished watching Season 4... so stay tuned for some of my thoughts... *cough* STAR WARS REBELS SEASON 4 SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
'The World Between Worlds' was insanely cool! I thought that resolved the Vader vs Ahsoka arc incredibly well, and it was surreal to see Ahsoka, essentially "back from the dead"
I like that the destruction of the temple and everything else about the world between worlds made it entirely possible that no one from the original trilogy could use it, and I thought exploring Time Travel in that manner was brilliant.
Seeing Palpatine's attempt to persuade Ezra into using the doorway on Thrawn's ship was cool. I loved seeing the hologram and how it changed. I saw that scene very much as Palpatine either wanting Ezra to erase himself from History and bring Palpatine back to a timeline where he could enter the temple. Or make it so Ezra could enter the Doorway and allow Palpatine access to it. We realised it wasn't possible for him to enter earlier.
Thrawn was an brilliant character in Rebels. I have yet to read any legends Thrawn stuff (but I really want to), but I think the way they dealt with him here was brilliant. The ending with Ezra and Thrawn and the Purrgil was so cool! I so can't wait for what I hope will be a new series where we see where they went off to.
There's a lot of theories at the moment about how if they did make a new show that featured around that, that it would tie into Snoke and the new trilogy etc. That be cool! I'd love to see that
On that the ending scenes of Ahsoka and Sabine heading off... Wow. that blew me away. Did anyone else see that Ahsoka rode in on a freaking Jedi T6-Shuttle? So does that mean the Jedi order is up and running to some degree by then? Is Ahsoka apart of a new Jedi order? Is she the new canon version of a grey Jedi? Is she apart of Luke's Jedi Academy or does she have her own? So many questions!
I for one love how open ended the ending was. Yes there were so many questions, but I love that! That's just exciting!
The fact that Rex is basically confirmed to be that trooper on Endor... oohhhhh baby that's so cool! When they said he was on Endor with Hera I audibly shouted YES! That's the coolest thing to be able to recon him into Return of the Jedi!
The end was beautiful in many so many ways. Great to see Kallus and Zeb making peace with themselves and being able to bond. Jacen is really exciting too. Looking forward to seeing the roads they explore there.
I for one hope that the new series (lets face it, they have to make one) focuses on Ahsoka and Sabine finding Ezra and Thrawn in the Unknown Regions. It be great to explore the unknown regions as well as to re-unite all the Rebels gang and allow them to meet with the gang from the Original Trilogy and even the new trilogy
Now I want nothing more then to have Rebels characters (especially Ahsoka) appear in Episode 9. But sadly I don't know how possible that is. The general public would very likely get extremely confused as to who they are, and they'd need to have larger roles, sure they could have someone explain who they are, that is possible. But it just seems unlikely to me sadly. But mannn I would be so happy to see a live action Ahsoka on the big screen.
I'm currently reading the canon Ahsoka novel. Loving every second, I believe I'm up to chapter 22 at the moment. Can't wait to finish!
Kanan as a character was incredible. It's a shame he's gone, but hey he went out the way I would have expected, which was great. Sad. But great.
So yeah really loved Star Wars Rebels as a whole and I can't wait to see where we end up next in Dave Filoni's additions to the canon :)
That's all folks!
Fourth Wall Commentary:
Part 3 of 4 in the Tales on Tatooine MOC series. This one features scenes from one of the (In my opinion) Best episodes of Star Wars Rebels, Twin Suns. I remember watching all The Clone Wars Maul episodes the second they came out, way back when. Man I was so hyped about everything it was incredible! Maul has become such an incredible character through his expansion in The Clone Wars and Rebels, and is one of my favourite characters throughout the Star Wars Universe... So is Obi-Wan for that matter.
Stay tuned for the final Tales on Tatooine MOC coming soon... I may even do a bonus MOC in the series, we'll have to wait and see ;)
Beautiful craftsmanship. But isn't that a little too much vegetation for Tatooine? Love the detail on the moisture vaporator. Awesome build.

Great Moc. I love all your mocs because there so creative and well thought of especially the tatooine moc ( I probably spelled the planet wrong but whatever) keep up the good work Ben, can't wait to see more.
Thanks all! Oh I'd totally recommend it. If you've watched Clone Wars it makes everything much much more enjoyable. The final few episodes are mindblowing and overall everything is very 'Star Wars-y' and enjoyable.
Beautiful work. This is one of the few rebels episodes I've seen, and this scene was masterfully done. Would you recommend the show? I've heard mixed things about. But it's got Ahsoka, so it's gotta be decent at least :D Again, absolutely amazing work man!
Great work, but I think there is a bit too much plants for Tatooine- there really were some dry grass there in that scene. Just my personal opinion of course. Using Dark Tan only is a good idea because duel happened at night.
SPOILERS AHEAD, SO AVAST YE MATEYS! YAR! Yeeeeeaaaaah! This MOC rocks. I like the rocks especially. :3 But seriously, I like the idea of it being similar but needing to be different from Twin Suns. I kind of like this setting a bit more just because if it had been a full on fight that took ten minutes, they would have needed some things to move around on and slash and throw at one another. But I like how quick the fight was. I don't necessarily buy the explanation of them knowing each other's moves to a tee, that can actually be seen more between Obi-Wan and Grievous in Episode III after watching The Clone Wars, but Obi-Wan is in a totally different state of being at this point, and he probably has better foresight of things to come when Maul makes his... 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4... eeeeh his final return. I saw a HelloGreedo video where he thought it was stupid that Darth Maul were a lot of people's favorite character since he didn't do much in the movies, and I can't help but think of all the Boba Fett fans because he did just about as much in the movies. He's now watching a convoluted modified chronological order of the Clone Wars, but he's watching the show and he'll get to see why so many fans love him now more than ever. Hopefully he'll get around to watching Rebels as well to get the full story. And speaking of Rebels, I found the finale slightly underwhelming, but the episodes leading up to it were fantastic. Kanan going out so early destroyed any theory of what I thought the finale was going to be. I was certain he and Ezra would go on a mission against Vader or something that would require both of them to head off in the Phantom II and die in the process of their mission, but nope, we got something way better. Then we have the World Between Worlds and it practically makes time travel a thing in Star Wars, which nobody wanted, but everyone really likes how it was done. There seems to be a lot of rules and regulations involved that would make it hard to access, so I don't see it being used often, and honestly, outside of Dave Filoni, I don't want anyone touching it, even cautiously if Dave does again, because it could be so easily misused. If you ever have time, watch StarWarsExplained's videos about it, he's obsessed, but I think his theories around how it works are solid. And then we get to the Finale. So after watching the comments made by cast and crew and fan alike, I understand what took place, and it is very good by staying all in house. I like the return of the Pergil, I like the return of the chracters, I like that it stayed with saving Lothal since that's where the show began and has mostly been about, but I do feel it is slightly underwhelming compared to all the episodes in Season 4 that lead right up to it. The reason why is because so much of Rebels ties it in with so many other things. It tied in the Clone Wars with the Clones and Hondo and Ahsoka and Hera being Cham Syndulla's kid, it tied in with the Prequels with Maul and Bail Organa, it tied in with the Original Trilogy with Mon Mothma and the coming together of the Rebel Alliance and even going to Yavin IV, and with the World Between Worlds, it even ties in the Sequel Trilogy. The fact that it didn't tie closely into Rogue One or something that made it feel like this battle on Lothal had been won, but now we're entering the Alliance full hog and "OH CARP we're leaving for Scarif now because there's a Death Star and we have no Jedi!" when the show made all these connections but then the finale is so contained kind of hurts it for me. But it's also really good because it's not completely catering to the fans, it's actually completing the circle than getting 98% of the way and starts making a different shape. There's also been a lot of talk about Ezra since he survives (wait wut? he didnt get die in hyperspace?) and Dave confirmed that he is alive and so is Thrawn (Thank the maker! The fans would have never forgiven Filoni, no matter how good the show was.) but that's not actually what I want to talk about. The Emperor wants Ezra like he wants Luke, he's obsessed with finding a new stronger replacement, since Vader's a robot man, and won't blow up his toys if they're on his side, except he doesn't know about Luke yet. It's actually not until Luke blows up the Death Star that the Emperor becomes obsessed with him. I don't think it's actually a portal in the Finale, I think it's a trap, just like seeing Kanan in the World Between Worlds. This stems from StarWarsExplained's theories. It's a vision made by the Emperor because he knows what Ezra wants, and if he can just push him over the edge, he'll get Ezra all for himself. And then we get to that Epilogue. So Ahsoka has been hiding this whole time, or learning things about the Force in hidden spots of the Galaxy, and unless Pergil hyperspace is vastly different than spaceship hyperspace, so has Ezra. I'm pretty sure it's not time travel this time, they've been in hiding for about six years. And when it comes to the Shuttle Ahsoka uses, I think that's one of those things that it is not strictly a Jedi shuttle, they're just one of the models the Jedi preferred. It's like seeing another Corellian Freighter, there's probably lots of them out there, both bought and stolen. I imagine Ahsoka stole it at some point, or actually bought it, or knew a few friends that had one and it's on loan. I think the Jedi is being reestablished purely by Luke and in a future show, he may interact with Ezra and Ahsoka, and then come to the realization that their level of balance is what he should have be aiming for after the Temple he makes is destroyed. And let's get some Snoke involvement because everyone wants some clarifications and we really just need some better connection among everything when it comes to the Sequel Trilogy. A third show is inevitable, and it would make for a nice Trilogy of Trilogies for the movies, and a Trilogy of Animation for the inbetween years of the movies. Long comment, over.
Awesome build man! I love the way you present your mocs, while giving us some kind-of-random thoughts. It jives well with me. I loved the Ahsoka novel, by the way. Maybe you should make a moc or two from it! ;)
Nooooo! I said something that got my comment sent to moderation. Ew. I'm pretty sure I know what, but I can't be certain since MOCpages flagging system is so wishy-washy. It'll definitely pass, but still. *grumble*
