Silos (Grain - Cement - ???)
An 8-pack of Silos and other industrial buildings and sturctures.
About this creation
Here's an industrial area that contains 4 main structures: an 8-pack of silos, a
4 story tower, 2 overhead filling tanks, and a small office, built in April

  • SILO: The 8-pack of silos contains 112 gray and 24 white
(w/pattern) 4x4 1/4 round panels. The center of the silo for the first 2 rows is
hollow meaning the tubes are not complete. On top of the second row is a layer
of white 4x4 1/4 round plates that only skirt the outer edge of the structure,
for stability I used 2x 8x8 (dark gray) plates internally on this layer. The top
three rows are complete cylinders. This is where the 24 white (w/pattern) 4x4
1/4 round panels are used, on the lower two rows internal sides. The cat walk
and corrugated shack on top is somewhat prototypical and offered a chance to add
    some color.

  • TOWER: The tower is made up of 13 castle walls panels atop 4 "Jack
Stone" 2x2 girder-ized pillars. The blue stripes added nice break lines and
the red roof helps tie the tower to the Silo.

  • FILLING TANKS: The small tanks atop the 4 "Jack Stone" 2x2 girder-ized
pillars are held in place by a Star Wars portal. It just so happened that the
Technic pin holes in the side of the 4x4 round bricks aligned with the holes in
the portal. I added the Technic lift arms and chain to help hide the holes on
    the top of the tank.

  • OFFICE: A simple building nothing to really note on this one! :)

These structures are based on numerous photos from the Walthers Catalog and
various train magazines, and from many of the great LEGO train layouts that are
photo documented on the internet. Coping and building upon ideas from one
another is what strengthens a community. Here are a couple links to some sites
that I have been looking at for inspiration lately:

Yo! Steven, you should take this module to train shows with you. This looks really great. I am sure other people will compliment you too!
