My final MOC on this site.
About this creation
It is with a heavy heart that I bid farewell to Decisive Action 3. We barely knew her.

This page will be my last posting to MOCpages. I may check in from time to time but I will not upload any new creations here after this one. The severe instability of the site has been the main contributor to the downfall of DA3.

Here I will post some sketches and prototypes of my builds for DA3. Some creations, as you'll soon see, went through numerous revisions before the final product. Some, however, seemed to "click" right away. Please enjoy these work in progress pictures and sketches; a peek behind the curtain as it were.

First up is the only sketch I have of the Barricade APC. It ended up looking nothing like the one drawing I made. It was a MOC that more-or-less built itself while I was designing it.

Next up is one of the four rotor assemblies I designed for my drone. I didn't finish the drone on account of DA3 being cancelled, but here are the assemblies which I ended up liking alot so they will likely make their way into a future MOC.

Here is a quick sketch of my CLC flag design.

The Insurgent PT boat was one creation that had me stumped for days on end. I have not built water craft before this and it was quite the design challenge. It ended up looking nothing like the sketches which I think is interesting.

Here are some brief sketches of the SA-5 Sidearm. I originally wanted a working slide and trigger assembly but I couldn't quite get it to work.

We never got a tank category in the game, but if we had, I would have fielded this behemoth. It is named after our fearless leader, Commander Goldman. You can find more pictures of it here. HV-81 "Goldman" Heavy Tank

Here are some rough sketches of the World Court building. I originally wanted all the nations flag represented, but quickly realized that was far to monumental a task and decided to go for a more minimalist and futuristic approach.

And finally, here is my favorite DA3 MOC that I built. I spent a lot of time building and designing the Thunderbird Heavy and I feel a very personal connection to the old bird. She'll certainly be staying up my shelf as a proud reminder of the fun of DA3.

And with that, I bid you all farewell. I will always cherish the fond memories I have of DA3 and playing with all of you on this wonderfully wacky site. The Colonial Liberation Corps has set a course for a new world and we hope to see some of you there. I would also like to extend a huge thank you to Keith Goldman, VaKkron, Nick Barrett, and Michael Rutherford for their hard work in organizing the game. This was truly some of the best Lego experiences of my life.

It;s a shame, too, because i act like I would never leave the pages. Quoting Nils O. Those are some great final designs. It's sad to see you leaving the pages, but you're not the first and won't be the last to do so. I'm on flickr for a while now, too, but I still take the time to post the photos here on the pages too. I only write the text once, so it's mainly ctrl+C and ctrl+V ;-)) Great job, and see you on flickr! :-))

Quoting Jack Sparrow Well Zach. Gotta say it's been grand. Thoughts... I liked the sketches, and I'm always fascinated by buidler's sketches, as I don't think I've ever done a preliminary sketch or anything. I'm weird. :-P The Thunderbird definitely had an instant classic feel to it for sure, so I'm right there with you. As for your departure from here, I'm right there with you. The way that DA3 went down in flames totally killed my building mojo, and halted all work on stuff. All the posting on Flickr made me realize and era is over with this site. We're both on Flickr, so I'll see you over there! I salute you General! You got me into DA3!
Cheers, Jack! I'm so glad to have played DA3 with you (both factions you had!). I'd say most people have seen the signs of the times like we have and are now heading to other brick-based places. Thank you for joining the game and for being a stalwart ally of the CLC!

Quoting Winslow "Whit" Wadsworth Whittier The Wiseô Even though my life got in the way of any actual participation in the game, and I was further cut from seeing any action via stranding myself on that rock we so fondly called A14, I can say with great certainty that it was a pleasure serving together, and I've no doubt it would have been all the more pleasureful fighting alongside you. I salute you, General Sweigart, and wish you fair sailing in your future endeavors for you go where I cannot follow. Good luck, friend.;)
Thank you very much, Winslow. I will always value the time spent here. The CLC salutes you!

Quoting Mark B. Great retrospective. I always enjoy seeing the preliminary work that leads up to a final product. It shows something about how the designer/developer was thinking. The Thunderbird was my favorite of your DA3 MOCs as well. It was probably the best example of your underlying design theme. "Farewell to Arms" - are you a Hemingway fan, or was that just a convenient quote?
Not a fan, but I had to read a few of his books many years ago. Thank you for the kind words, Mark. DA3 would not have been as fun without the Brewtopians.
