Rescue 1 is staffed by 6 men and respond to calls on the northern part of the city, while Rescue 2 handles the southern part of Castle Beach. The compartments hold a wide variety of tools for various rescue applications including confined space rescue, high angle rescue, vehicle extrication, etc.
About this creation

The slide-out is flush with the rest of the compartments yet slides out easily when necessary.

Rear shows the compartment for plywood used during collapse rescue situations. The top stores long tools as well as objects not used on a daily basis as well as the inflatable raft.

The door on the officer's side of body leads to accessing the command center/rehab/suit up area. Special suits for dive rescue or hazmat suits are carried in the walk-through portion of the body, making suit up quicker.

The saying “Outstanding” is a tribute to the late Captain Hatton of the prestigious FDNY Rescue 1, who died along with more than 300 first responders on 9/11/01.

Rescue 1 is a 2017 Spartan Gladiator/SVI Heavy Rescue. Features include a slide-out compartment! Like the previous generation of rescues, this apparatus has a partial walk-in compartment which has served useful for command, suit-up area, or rehab.

Technical specs:
2017 Spartan Gladiator/SVI Heavy Rescue
Code 3 Lighting
Federal Signal Q2B Siren
Motorola Spectra Siren
Grover Air horns
Forcible entry tools
Complete Holmatro extraction tools
Vanair Pro Air Compressor
Harrison On-Board generator
K-12 saws
Acetylene torch
Dive Rescue gear
Inflatable raft
Cribbing and airbags for stabilization
48' of ground ladders

This apparatus can fulfill almost any role on the fireground. The specialized walk-in compartment contains the dive rescue equipment where the firemen can suit up. The ample room in the apparatus also allows for the setup of a command center.
