Orrery and vignette built for DA3. Sadly the game finished prematurely but I still wanted it to see the light of day!
About this creation
In a solar system far away, on a planet ravaged by war, a salvage team belonging to The Singularity investigate an alien vessel that has fallen to earth.
"I want all eyes open, men! This mysterious object could contain all kinds of technological marvels... just what we need to get an edge in this war. Corporal - report!"
"Uhh, nearly everything inside was smashed. But there is one thing... we think it's some kind of audio recording..."
"Not sure, sir. There's a list: 'Rite of Spring', 'Johnny B. Goode', 'Mythodea', 'Space Oddity', and so on."*
"Clearly some kind of secret code! Get it back to the lab at once!"
The DA3 solar system in all its, erm, glory.
One of the effects of deep space voyages is a nagging feeling that you're just going round in circles.
Planets with axial tilt are more fun! Because they have, like, seasons and so forth.
Best mechanism I could build with my limited supply of Technic pieces. But it works!
See it in motion here:
*All these pieces of music have actually been sent into space on various NASA probes, except for David Bowie's Space Oddity, which was performed in space (on the ISS) by Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield. Great stuff Chris!
Brilliant! Not only did you get the tilt but they found my 8-track. :D There's something truly wonderful when Lego orreries show up, really one of the greatest categories ever for a war game. And this one's worth the MILPO. Nice!
