This 1931 American-LaFrance Type 245 pumper. This has a 100-gallon water tank and a 1000 gpm rotary pump.
About this creation

In 1926, American-LaFrance introduced its new 100 Series of apparatus and marketed these under the Metropolitan name. Metropolitan had been the name of American-LaFrance’s last line of steam fire engines. The new line of motor fire apparatus included the Type 112 and 145 pumpers, the Type 114 city service truck and the Type 117 tractor-drawn aerial ladder truck. These had a number of improvements over American-LaFrance’s initial line of motor fire apparatus.

On October 22, 1929, American-LaFrance introduced its all-new 200 Series of apparatus, also known as the Master Series. The 200 Series featured left-hand steering, an improved six-cylinder motor and four-wheel brakes. Unfortunately, the timing of the announcement could not have been worse; the stock market crashed just one week later on October 29.

Because of the drastic impact on the economy, fire apparatus sales suffered terribly. American-LaFrance saw its revenue drop by more than 80 percent. In this period of sluggish sales only 112 units of the Type 245 were built between 1929 and 1932.

Almost 100 Type 245 apparatus were like this one, a “pump with tank” or PWT. Some were built as older style triple combination pumpers with a chemical booster system. However, chemical booster systems had fallen out of favor by the end of the 1920s and water tanks would become commonplace on pumpers in the 1930s.

Quoting Sven ;o) It's a beautiful old pumper. Really like the details, especially of the officers side. Visited the FDNY fire museum in November last year and really enjoyed the old rigs and all the other nice exhibits. Watching the 9/11 memorial inside the building was a very touching moment.
That is a great museum. My son and I went there in 2013.
