Our Annual Brickvention Collaborative build for this year is here. Built by Myself and Eli (E.B.)
About this creation
The Shadow Triad have assembled an army of orcs and goblins and are readying themselves for war. It is believed they are assembling in the nearby city of Windpeak, a city known to be crawling with thieves and robbers.
Arakoth and some of the Realms best men head towards Windpeak, to see if these rumors are indeed true. Little do these adventurers know, something else is rising, something sinister. Screams of fear fill the streets, citizens run towards the gates as our noble adventurers rush towards the heart of the city. The main courtyard of Windpeak has been converted into a summoning ground, blood red circles and ancient writing cover the cobblestone, and three dark mages stand above it, reciting an ancient incantation. Suddenly with flashes of blood red light a towering monster emerges. The Soul Hoarder has been reborn, freed from its hellish prison. Arakoth and the adventurers ready themselves for battle. Fear flashes across Arakoths face, this terrible monster has been brought forth into the overworld and he had no idea how to stop it but he and his party have been through many impossible challenges and together they can defeat this horrible monster. Arakoth let out a battle cry as the party attacked in full force!
Once again Brickvention was an absolute blast this year!
I plan on recording some vlogs discussing what I got up to. Seriously though, if you're an Australian, be sure to head down to Brickvention soon, it's just the best!
So obviously this build took some inspiration from Skyrim
The main thing it took notes from was The Ragged Flagon. The Sewer area below takes a few notes from that.
The last 7 MOCs from the last 7 years have had stories behind each MOC and of course this is no exception, I have a 7 page document that has the whole story behind all 7 MOCs all written up at the moment.
I aim to post that on MOCpages at one point and then also include some awesome edited photos showcasing moments from the story. I think that'll be good fun.
But if you can't wait till then, feel free to look over the last few Brickvention MOC posts, each one opens with a bit of a story about the MOC.
You may also recognise some of the characters from past builds on this Diorama, I'm starting to write out backstories for some of my favourites.
This MOC also has a few light up areas in it. You can see some in these pictures, but they show up a lot better on the YouTube Videos I'll be posting soon. Stay tuned for those ;)
Of course massive thanks to my awesome Collaborative partner Eli, I couldn't have made this MOC without you man, love your work!
So all up this took about two and a half months of build time for both of us. I believe I started November 15th and finished January 3rd. Not sure exactly when Eli started and ended
So the side with the Demon on it is my side, and the side with the houses is Eli's side
The lighting at the Convention is not the best, It's a shame this MOC was harder to photograph, but we made do
Beyond The Brick was at Brickvention this year and we did an interview with them, so stay tuned to their channel, you may see us on their soon.
Also it was a blast meeting up with all my Melbourne Brickvention buddies, I've made so many over the years and I'm so grateful to each and every one of them, thanks guys!
I didn't include photos of the Trophy this year, but we were lucky enough to win another award this year.
Wow so many photos D:
This year I did a few parts drafts and also a Secret Santa gifting thing. Always a blast doing that sort of stuff with friends, I'll have to post photos of the gifts soon.
So I do have a few other projects on the way. I have a few MOCs I made last year that I didn't post. I believe there are 2 of those at the moement
Then I also have 2 very large dioramas that I can now photograph, after that it's posting time.
Then on top of that I'm about 65% of the way through a new Star Wars MOC right now, I am absolutely loving this one by the way, you'll love it!
I was also lucky enough to meet a couple new Bionicle fans down at Brickvention, always a pleasure to see people who love their Bionicle.
I'm hoping next year to get a bunch of Aussie Bionicle people down at the con, then we can all display our Bionicle Stuff on one table. We could always use more Bionicle at the Con so I think it be awesome to see and do!
Also had fun at The Lego Discovery Centre in Melbourne, what a great store! Those Discovery Centre's are so much fun
We've already got a few plans for next years diorama, but that is all top secret right now :P
Very keen to start building for next year though, I may even start a bit earlier then normal.
I also have Bricktober in Perth as the next LEGO con I'll be at, normally I just display whatever I'd made that year, but I may actually build something specially for that con this year.
It be lovely to go to Brickfair VA this year, I would like to if I can. But can't really confirm or deny if that's possible right now.
Haha I'd also love to go to Star Wars Celebrations this year, but again no idea how likely that will be.
We'll just have to wait and see
But Brickvention 2020 I will for sure be there. Huzzah!
So yeah really really pleased with how this build turned out this year.
But man I used lots of nice parts in it. My side is currently re-built on my desk at the moment... I'm resisting the urge to take all the good stuff off at the moment haha.
But if I can keep it alive for Bricktober, I will ;)
Hope you enjoyed looking at the MOC!
That's all folks ;)
Oh and here are the Bionicle MOCs I brought this year next to Jack Frost's stuff.
Fourth Wall Commentary:
So for those of you who don't know Eli and myself build one half of this diorama each. We build on opposite sides of Australia and then bring this MOC together in Melbourne for Brickvention. We have been doing this now for 7 years and man it's good fun!
This year I really wanted to focus on mixing a Bionicle into a system MOC, I love making both Bionicle and System stuff, so it was nice to mix the two into one Diorama for once.
This MOC ended up winning 2nd Best in Show at Brickvention 2019
Quoting Runkbolt 12
Ooof, poor peasant being tortured. That demon guy is amazing! It would be interesting to see the skeleton of the build without the cloak. Also where did you get all those cloth elements?
There will be a video coming out tomorrow on my channel showing the skeleton of The Soul Hoarder ;)
And the cloak comes from basically every Star Wars Ultrabuild set, Vezon and the POTC Black Pearl
Seriously awesome work once again! Although large, you have not spared the details on this. I particularly like the sewer water. After playing Skyrim through for the first time recently, I can see where you got some of your inspiration from!
