ok, this is just a work in progress. when you see it you'll realize. here's the inspiration:
first off, the tape. its ugly I know, but eventually I plan to paint these ugly blue pieces with this pattern since it's virtually impossible to pull off using Legos. maybe I'll use some Mega Blok paint which washes off...
anyways, pretend its paint.
second, the flares over the forward (lightspeed) engines. which
third, which side of the back end looks better(assuming I find these two pieces in blue on Bricklink), the side with the white corner roof tile or the grey 2x3 angle removed piece(what the heck is this actually called?)
its actually made of few parts from any SW sets, the Sith Infiltrator getting the worst end of the deal. I just saw a ton of ugly blue parts and thought, why not try that starfighter. its an extremely difficult ship because its supposed to look thin and sharp and yet has more features than a regular starfighter. here's the only other 2 I saw and I didn't like the look of using the Lego starfighter w/blue pieces and hooking on some engines:
and this one's nice but not too accurate(not that mine is yet either):
I like those 2 a lot but really wanted to try my hand at it. other than that, and fact the front isn't pointy like Ani's ship (which I hope to eventually address) I'd love some extreme criticism. hurt me if you want.
and up. I used this initially to keep the shape of the fighter thin while giving a tapering illusion, but when I shortened the length (by 7 studs!) it worked very nice as a substitute front gear, and so I kept it. if you hate it call it Poll #3 and let me know
I have got no clue what your trying to make, I have never seen the clone wars cartoons or anything, but from that stand point... I think it looks cool for being whatever its soppost to be. The tape is a bit ugly, but not to bad. so good work.
Poll #1- the left side looks better (the one with the white 2x2 incline)
Poll #2- the second front end is better. The exposed engines keep the slick, tapered look you're going for.
Overall a great ship - even with the tape. :)
