Twin Titan (Tri-phibian Tourney Round 1)
My very very late entry for the first round of the Tri-phibian Tournament of Land, Air, and Sea.
About this creation
The Twin Titan is a large, carnivorous reptilian rahi that makes its home on the lands south of Metru Nui. Aside from their large size the Twin Titan's most notable feature is undoubtedly their two heads, each perched atop separate necks. Surprisingly this is not a mutation but their natural form, though there have been reports of individuals born with one, three, or more heads. These heads work in unison to hunt for food and territory, and should one befall some misfortune and perish the rest of the creature is soon to follow, leading scholars to suspect that the rahi shares some sort of shared consciousness between heads.

Top predators, Twin Titans roam vast territories hunting rahi too slow or large to escape, and will scavenge when carrion is available. However, in order to avoid direct competition from the larger and more intelligent Tahtorak that migrate in and out of their range, Twin Titans adopt smaller territories in jungles, using their bulk to flush small rahi from the undergrowth and striking out with their heads to pick them off as they scatter. It's at this time where territorial disputes are most common, as the search for available prey forces individuals closer and closer together. When this happens, both animals pace alongside each other with necks held rigid. Normally the Twin Titan with the longest neck routs the smaller with little violence, but as the Tahtorak deplete the available food these displays increasingly become more violent until full battles are waged.

Roaring(this was the best worm's-eye view picture I could manage).

Roaming its territory.

Rear view.

Hunting.

Using its heads to help heave itself up from a nap.

Rearing up(I would have liked to have it reacting to some animal, but Spring is a bad time to find critters who will sit still long enough for a picture).

(NEW)Full view without plants obscuring it.

(NEW)Underside view, because why not.

(NEW)Head construction. Looks pretty good, but is way to finicky to recommend.

(NEW)Standing with all previous versions of the idea. Wow, I've come so far since those early days, its actually amazing. Never stop trying guys, who knows how far you'll fly.

Sooo... This took way to long to finish. :P After running into a builder's block the first week trying to create a new rahi, I had the idea to revamp one of my ancient MOCs I used to build back when all we had were a full set of Throwbots, Kopaka Nuva, and a Pahrak Va. Fortunately I drew some of those, so some simple parts gathering was all I needed to reconstruct it. From there I took the basic concept and scaled it up as big as it would go while still being small enough to finish in a week, got the skeleton and legs built... and had to go visit relatives on the weekend. :P Came back, started working on it again, and another family matter took up most of my afternoons. As yet I still haven't taken all the pictures(hopefully this will be amended by tomorrow[EDIT: It was]), but I wanted to get some semblance of the thing up as soon as possible, so here it is.

I know you can't really see all of it in any one picture and I'll work on that, but until then comments and criticism as always are welcome, so let me know what ya think! That's it for now, Torp out.

Quoting Runkbolt 12 Did you get any inspiration from the pokemon Zweilous by any chance?
Oh right, that one. :P Nope, I built and drew the original all the way back in like 2006, so if anything Doduo might have had a small part in the creative process. Though now that I think of it, it may have subconsciously been the reason I wrote the bio the way I did.

Quoting Silverwing 05 Looks great! A very unique design, especially the neck, although how posable is it? The tan highlights go really well, and the lack of eyes adds to the reptilian feel of the build. Overall a great MOC.
It allows for some gentle organic curves but not much else, like a sauropod neck instead of a snake. Thanks!

Funny, I actually added the gray shells because I thought black was too abrupt a change. Guess they just need to start making black friction joints, that would solve all the problems. :P Solid is right, I had to dismantle it to add a bunch of system in the hips to try and move the center of balance over the legs instead of the necks. :P

Well darn, that's like way better than what I built for this round. :P My main complaint would be that the transition into the pure grey of the neck is kind of strange looking, I maybe would have used black shells there instead of the grey, but that's just me. :P But otherwise it's a cool build, and pretty solidly put together, so good job. :P

Quoting Juppiter Augustus Furnus (JimiFurno) How many of those friction-making-bone-lengthening-add-on-parts do you have? =P I had thought about doing something with a bunch stacked up, but never got around to doing it.
Many more than these, I haven't taken them off of most of the Star Wars or G2 sets yet. Someday I'll take all of them off and make the biggest honking chain of friction joints the internet has ever seen! XP
