Hades, Silver Death (Variation trois)
I honestly don't see the point of the intro section XD
About this creation

I was just on the computer today and decided to post this. You'd better enjoy it, I could be napping right now -_-

Name: Hades, Silver Death

Element(s): Ice, Shadow

Species: Matoran/Toa

Origin: Tren Krom Peninsula, The Northern Continent, Aqua Magna

Affiliation: None

Kanohi: Akral, Dark Mask of Absorption

Equipment: Katana(?), scythe

Backstory: Once, there was a Ko-Matoran, known as Shade. Shadeís life was characterized by the harsh and unforgiving peaks of Ko-Wahi, barely scraping a living for himself by selling ice to the nearby region of Po-Wahi. Living with a small group of outcasts, Shade would go on to be killed by a Kaiga tiger during an excursion into Le-Wahi. Like all beings, he was revived on the Red Star and sent back to the Matoran universe to live in a village on the shore of the Tren Krom peninsula. However, due to a malfunction with the Star, Shadeís memories had been completely erased.

Hades was a Ko-Matoran living in the Tren Krom peninsula as a mechanic for the few vehicles that were at the disposal of his poverty stricken village. An outcast because of his exceedingly dark personality, Hades was generally a bitter loner, only interacting with his closest compatriots. At some point, Hadesí village was attacked by rahi. Hades and a few other Matoran were the only survivors. Still hunted by the rahi, the Matoran tried to seek refuge with a nearby village, but on the way there were ambushed by a single Skakdi. They were slaughtered, but the Skakdi, strangely, took Hades prisoner instead of killing him. Heavily sedated, Hades was taken to Xia, where he first encountered A Vortixx known as Scylla. There he discovered that the attack on his village had been instigated by the Brotherhood of Makuta, who were looking for selected Matoran for experiment on. Why Hades had been one of the few chosen was never revealed to him.

From Xia, Hades was taken, in chains, to Stelt, where he met Makuta Indrax. There Hades was attacked by a shadow leech. During the struggle, Hades fell into energized protodermis, which simultaneously killed the shadow leech and transformed Hades into a Toa. After this, Hades was given the Akral, and his memory was wiped.

Hades worked as an assassin for Indrax until Indrax defected from the Brotherhood. Hunted by both his former allies and the OOMN, Indrax fled to the Islas Magnos (Iíll be getting around to uploading info on that later), taking Hades with him.

Yep thatís it.

Yeah yeah I know itís all very disjointed and inarticulate. Thatís what happens when you have to cut out half of it to avoid story spoilers.

I built this pretty soon after I took pictures for V2, because when I was doing so I was made painfully aware of said V2's discrepancies. All in all this came together pretty fast, and I'm much more satisfied with this one, at least for the time being. He'll probably say together for a while because I currently don't need to revamp him as much as I did, so I can now build more MOCs.

I torso went through several variations, including one where I used a custom waist instead of a metru one. It had waist mobility, but was really chunky and I didn't like it, so I went back to the metru hips. After that and deciding on the inika shoulder for the chest, it was a pretty quick build.

Unfortunately, there's a super super annoying chest gap that I can't figure out how to fill without making the whole thing look super blocky. Before I forget, I wanted to mention that inspiration was taken from several other MOCs that I will provide links to at the bottom of the page.

The entire build is pretty much help together by the L-shaped liftarms on the sides. The three sections of the torso separate if you take them off. This doesn't mean that the build is fragile, because then the liftarms are in, they force the sections to support each other. I'll show the inner workings sometime to show what I mean.

As you can probably tell, I kept the asymmetry in the coloration for the arms. Speaking of color, the color blocking is so pathetic that I *almost* want to rip the whole thing apart. There's literally no blue on the MOC except for the legs and the visorak foot on the back. I'll have to fix that next time....

The arm design is pretty basic, and though I like the Inika shoulders, I think I'll have to lose them in the next version because they make the arms too long. This has already been remedied to some extent, I'll show how later.

I really love greebling. There's something therapeutic about putting random parts that look good on another set of random parts that look good XD

Sorry for the blurry pictures. I'll try to persuade my sister to let me use her DSLR next time. Not going to happen, but I'll try for your guys' sake :P

The back was not what it was when I originally finished. It was highly mediocre, but then I saw Wertman's Raxonax MOC that uses a similar design for the chest, and it fit perfectly with a slightly different foot piece, so I had to use it. I've recently come up with a new back design though, so I may modify it into the MOC later.

The legs are still very basic. The visorak feet help though.

DON'T COMMENT YET.

The proportions are messed up on this MOC, because the legs are too short and the arms are too long. HOWEVER, this Thursday a Bricklink order came in, and I have since made some updates to Hades, mostly greebles, but I also made the legs a stud longer. Keep that in mind as you criticize (but please, please do criticize, I need it :D). I'll add pictures shortly (done!)

Other news, I just finished another MOC, and I'll be taking pictures of her today because the weather is really nice and the lighting in my room right now it perfect. Look forward to that, or else xP

UPDATE 5/27/2019:
Here are a few pics of the updated version with the Bricklink parts I got.

As you can see, he looks way better with the longer legs. The pieces I used for filler now get in the way of some posability, but not too much.

I accidentally bought one piraka leg and one rahkshi leg instead of two piraka legs, but it ended up looking great. For some reason I find building asymmetric MOCs somewhat therapeutic... XD

Aside from the legs, it's pretty much all greebling, mostly on the arms. I added stud 'knuckles' to the hands and moved the vine from the hilt of the sword to his arm.

Aaand now the sword. Please leave your opinion on this specifically in the comments. I NEED FEEDBACK.

I designed the new weapon taking inspiration from several different Asian (and to a lesser extent, Indian) swords: the Japanese katana/tachi, the Chinese jian, Indian talwar and various Tibetan swords. I plan on giving him a full daisho in the future, but I'm *really* struggling with coming up with a good design for the wakazashi.

The aero slicer mold is really awesome, in my opinion (actually it's my second favorite sword design. First is air katanas). The problem is that its blade is so short. With the design I used, the connection sort of ties into the blade, making it look longer (also the coloration helps), but I just don't know. I really like this design, but I'm not fully committed.

Hope you enjoy the new pics!

Inspiration for this MOC:

Wertman 8's Toa Raxonax
Kromastus' Braxis of Soralis

I think that's everything, but it probably isn't... Wow that whole post only took half an hour. Anyways, please leave a like and a comment with your thoughts!

Quoting The Tallon I really like this MOC! Excellent job on the Kanohi Rau painting and the sword looks great too. The asymmetry is a unique feature and it doesn't clash with the tightness of the build. Very good job!

Quoting Juppiter Augustus Furnus (JimiFurno) One more thing: Find a black pin for the sword. The red doesn't match the color scheme. I like the sword so much I'm copying it. I don't think I'll use in a MOC, but could I if I wanted? (I'd give you credit of course.)
Absolutely. Feel free to use whatever you want. Thanks so much for the feedback! (I ran out of back 2L axles btw, between this MOC and my next one. I'll find some way to cannibalize one xD)

The Sword looks great! I'd keep it, at least as a secondary weapon. I'm not a big fan of the black vine on the shoulder though, and if you do asymmetrical legs like that then I'd armor them slightly differently as well; the Rahkshi leg preferably.

Hades is really improving! Besides the torso and arms needing more dark blue, I think this version looks great. I think the upper arms could use some more coverage too. EDIT: I think the sword looks good. Maybe you could try making a brick-built sword like I did, but I'm not sure how it would look.

Quoting Runkbolt 12 Awesome! I believe you should keep the arms at their current length and lengthen the legs by using a piraka shin and friction adder on the ankle. I actually like the lack of blue on the upper torso as it adds a separated look on Hades. If you want more colour balance I would take out the blue entirely and use just black and silver. Good job and cant't wait to see more!

Quoting IVAX THE AWESOME This is pretty good. But the head is a bit too far back.
You think so? I feel like it's too far forward when I bring it level with the shoulders, but I'll try again.

Looks decent enough to me, It's not perfect but I'm too lazy to think of something to specifically criticize. xP
