Reserve Engine 503
Reserve Engine 503 previously served as E3, E8, and E203 prior to being placed in reserve status.
About this creation

RE503 was built on the heavy duty Pierce Arrow XT chassis.

As this rig was the first engine to feature full height roll up compartments, changes to the layout of equipment were necessary

Having full height compartments actually increased storage and allowed for additional gear to be carried. A hard sleeve section of hose can also be seen from this side.

Rear of the apparatus shows access to the hosebed.

The rear compartments hold additional valves and fittings for hoses. The hydrant bag is also kept in this area.

For a brief period, Castle Beach experimented with a motorized ladder rack, but the test period showed an increase of deployment time as well as limitations when deploying. Later purchases moved the ground ladders to an interior compartment.

The deployed ladder rack grants access to the 24 ft extension ladder, an extra hard sleeve hose, and a pike pole.

Compartments on the curbside hold much more equipment as compared to the previous generations of engines.

The officer’s pump panel features an intake and multiple discharges.

Reserve Engine 503 is one of four ready reserve apparatus in the department and can be pressed into service should the need arise.

This is also one of the first apparatus to feature a NightScan Powerlite device.

Reserve Engine 503 is one of several reserve engines that Castle Beach operates. RE503 is a 2007 Pierce Arrow XT and marked the switch to a new engine layout featuring all roll up compartments and the removal of the ground ladders on the curb side. The department experimented with having a ground ladder rack, but engines purchased after 2009 ultimately had internal ladder compartments as motorized ladder racks required space to deploy and additional time to retrieve the ladders. Reserve Engine 503 is housed at Station 2 alongside Reserve Engine 504 and Reserve Truck 502.

Quoting Sven ;o) Yeah, they look all great but roughly the same because of the paint scheme and design.
True. My fleet maintenance guy would hate me if all the trucks were different :p

Quoting Sven ;o) I think I lost track somewhere. Is this a new rig or just a update? I have no idea XD But anyways, its a great one :)
It's a new rig in the sense that I built it 6 months ago haha! After realizing that my fleet barely has any reserve apparatus, I added 6 reserve apparatus, each with their own unique story :)
