About this creation
Built for Classic Castle's CCCV contest for the Industry category, the Gold Mine is about the mining industry during medieval times. Not much is known about medieval mining except most mining was actually panning in the rivers and creeks; and chipping gold out of exposed rock at the surface. I think during the times deep mining was hardly ever done and if it was it was dangerous work and mostly slaves were the ones doing the work. Earliest carts and rails were wooden(I'm not so sure they had the tech during medieval times). But Lego doesn't have brown rails so I had to use gray ones instead. Conveyer belts and other mining machines would have been cattle/horse-powered or man-powered. I chose man-powered for my conveyer belt(actual working conveyer). Poor slaves:( Enjoy!
Finally I have the time to review this entry here at MOC Pages. Personally this industry entry was by far the best one at CCCV. It really best captures the scene behind the industry task. I would have placed something, trees or stones, on top, so it would look smoother. Other than this another piece of Lego-art. Congratulations
Absolutely impressive! This creation warrants an award of sheer impressiveness! The lush details and the use of the tread into the mine workings is astonishing! I am sincerely amazed by this genius work of art! I bow to you for this amazing creation, and may many many more wonderful creations spill from your mind!
The rock formations look very natural, especially when they contrast against the human built building. I enjoy the attention you pay to every element of the diorama; you don't leave any space wasted. The diorama has something interesting to see from every exterior and interior angle.
