“Into the Belly of the Beast” from Level 3: Truth and Reconciliation of the original Halo: Combat Evolved.
About this creation
My entry for the Halo Vignette Contest at BrickArms. “Into the Belly of the Beast” from Level 3: Truth and Reconciliation of the original Halo: Combat Evolved. The Master Chief watches as the Marines around him ascend via the gravity lift into the Covenant carrier. Meanwhile, in the ship high above, a Covenant Elite orders his Grunts into their ambush positions. Of course, this entire scene was shrunken slightly to fit the required vignette size. The Marines and the Chief are all carrying MA5 assault rifles, and the M6 pistol is in the hands of the Marine in the hat – floating upside-down for some LEGO-style comedy. Enjoy!
"No Covenant? Looks like nobody's home."
"No Covenant! You just HAD to open your mouth!"
View from above. I never noticed that one of the lights around the ring
had fallen off until after the photos were taken. Bah!
This was the most humiliating moment in the Marine's career, as he
ascended upside-down toward the enemy ship. Luckily or unluckily, the
Chief was playing on Legendary, so he didn't last long afterward anyway.
The clear supports are actually pretty sturdy. They wobble, but they don't
break very easily. No stud overhang. However, the central hole isn't quite
as big as the platform below. You can either chalk this up to "forced
perspective"; or the fact that I wanted to make some of the blue beam
things hanging from the top as well.
Closeup of the Covenant on top. Note the holographic Covenant computers,
accurate to the game.
Closeup of the Marines and the Chief. As you can see, the Master Chief fig
is completely new and based on the Halo: Combat Evolved suit, the Mark V.
I still prefer it, personally. It's sleek!
In reply to several reviews: Yes, the new Chief decals will be added to my site soon, once I've finalized them. there are still a few things I might modify. ;)
In reply to Quinn Finnigan: Actually, there are plenty of Marines with hats in the game. In the original Halo, some of the Marines had helmets, some had no helmets, some had officer hats like Sgt. Johnson wears, some had those floppy-brimmed hats I forget the name of, and others just had a rag tied around their head.
thats just like the gravity lift from the game. i can remember it now, first you board the ship , second a merine opens his big mouth and then your under heavy fire. ahh thats it. the thing is, you have the feel of the game there, especialy the purple and blue beams, but i dont remember a merine turning upside down. still, 1000/1000. also please review my first moc, i will be adding more tommorow.connor
I love all of your lego creations scorp oh and for my birthday im getting enofe peices fot like 6 lego halo elites of your moddle.
the place im geting the peices from is lego.com at the pick a brick feature.
This is very good like your other creations but im still wondering when your going to start posting halo things again if you know please tell me. :D
Check out my page because theres quite a lot more stuff now.
Also how do you get more than seven pictures?
Absolutley Amazing. If anyone gives it anything less than a 5, they're insane. I'm in the process of getting decals from your site so i can make a viginette of my own. Oh, and be sure to check out my newest additions to my CGR folder and home page.
Very nice, looks professional, like Lego did it. Kinda small, and there aren't any corpses lieing around on the ground, but it is really good none the less. I am really eager to see this new MC decal set up close too. Kudos scorp.
Very good exept there is no guys with hats in the game just helmets. But thats probubly because you dont have another helmet. I would give you a 4 and a half but there isnt one so i'll give you a five!
beautiful vig! p.s. you know how there have been no truly accurate assault rifles up? i finally came up with the perfect design. it should be posted by friday(2-15-08) so check it out if you get the chance.
when I first saw it I didnt think it was yours.there was nothing on your site or on the flikcr.but how can you post this BEFORE the hornet?but...I love it!im planning to make a entry too.hope i see a hornet soon.
I really didn't see this MOC and automatically think..."Oh Justin posted something". Maybe Im not used to your new style...Anyway, I was considering posting a vig for that contest but I don't have the equipment to do so...in other words I don't have a white bristol board or a clean flat surface in my room...I considered posting an older WIP vig that I posted on flickr before the contest but I read the rules...back to the point. So this is pretty original, Ive never seen a halo moc based off of this scene...or even really the covenant ships at all. So congrats on that. Also, the new decals are so good I almost started to count the pennies near my lamp to see if i could afford a copy...and I don't even like decals! I have to say that overall the vig is lacking action, but its design compensates. Great job.
