My entry for Nannan's Black Fantasy Contest. Of course, the real reason I built this was so you couldn't complain about my color coordination. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!
The Screamer is a biomechanical creature controlled by some sort of computer or primitive biological brain. They descend from orbit in swarms as the first wave of the Black Fantasy invasion, and are named for the distinctive sound made by their dual turbine engines.
There was going to be a Nannan-esque first person backstory in italics, but it has been removed due to excessive lameness.
Front. You can see the twin gatling guns from the AAPV which were the basis for this model. The Screamer will probably be dismantled very soon so that the gatling guns can be returned to the AAPV; it's a cool model but it isn't very sturdy. Of course, only one or two barrels of each gun can fire at a time, but most gatling guns only fire from one position; the rotating mechanism is just a way of reloading fast.
Side, definitely my favorite view. I didn't have any particular LEGO or non-LEGO ship in mind when building it, but it looks something like a cross between the Aerial Hunter-Killer and this thing .
Back. Very little to see here.
VTOL mode. In this mode it can use its tentacles to rip apart structures which are too strong for the guns to destroy.
Front in VTOL mode.
Detail on top.
BONUS MOC! This is a microscale Black Fantasy Starfighter, which I built after seeing Jerac use that four-pronged piece in his Vampyre Hunters Fleet.
Reply to Shannon: The micro fighter is in no way connected with the bigger one, it's just a quick little thing I dashed off because I thought it would be interesting to take Black Fantasy into space. There is another Black Fantasy Contest entry here which is a bit more like what you're thinking of, a bomber that drops infection spores and (better yet) Infected Fleebnorks. Fun!
Love this one ! I'm not into black fantasy too much, but as someone said before me, it can be seen as a sort of ship. And it's a great one, the greebles on the underside are superb. The overall
design makes me think to the "Alien" creature ! :-)
I don't really consider this Black Fantasy, as it looks too much like a spaceship and not enough like a creature, but that's just quibbling over semantics. It's a cool-looking black ship no matter what you call it.
Very sleek and deadly looking profile! If you could use only two colors this would be much better though...(joke) The idea is cool and the premise of fleet of these things attacking is bone chilling. Awesome work Ben!
