The latest abomination to come from the jungles of tayko, the Taliarn locust. Shown at minifig scale these bugs are the large evolved versions of tayko's regular jungle locusts. equiped with two large claws for front limbs, and having very strong back legs these Locusts are very dangerous. Despite having a recessed mouth and general herbavore nature, these bugs will often eat other jungle creatures to supplement their diet of vegetation. Even though they are direct cousins of locusts these bugs are not nearly as numerous given their larger size. The female is nearly double the male's size, and is just as much more dangerous. fortunately females are very reclusive when they are not hunting, so they are not often encountered. But all sides beware of the rampant males, especially during mating season. i am very proud of the small males, but the female still did not turn out as good as i would have hoped... again i'll be making a diorama soon!
About this creation

Front views of the male.

Side views of the male.

Rear views of the male.

Very slender body, note the blue compound eyes.

Males outnumber females by at least 10 to 1.

Two males square off, during mating season it is always the most flashy and intimidating male that wins the female.

Taliarn Locusts are feircely territorial, and will fight anything that gets near their turf.

The massive female.

Front views of a female.

Side views of a female.

The body, the only part of the female that turned out really good.

females eat the males they mate with, bizarre huh?

A happy family, oh wait, no its not. anyways, another fascinating specimen discovered in the brutal jungles of tayko!

Very cool. I think I like the female the best. That is CRAZY if it is minifig scale. Great job.

They're both very cute! I do like the colors, they turn out very well. To the reviewer below me: Antlions aren't just from Half Life, they are real. Look it up, they look pretty cool.

Nice. They remind me of the Antlions From Half-life 2.

I thought the male looked menacing until I saw the female! They look really cool, the colours suit a jungle habitat and there's some interesting joint techniques on the female.

Very nicely done, Matt...although I had come to expect a little more detail, but great work! Although you should probably add a link to the last pic, instead of just posting it here, it IS a community site, remember? :P lol, excellent work, and descriptions too! I have a question: where did you get that strange green pointed piece that sticks out the back? Very creepy creature, Matt...nice work
