This is my X-Wing. In most respects it is the same as the first X-wing that Lego released, but I have made a couple of minor adjustments of my own to make the ship seem more real.
The first thing I altered was the wing section. In the movies, as anyone who has seen the first movie will know, then engines and wings touch each other when in the closed position. This si a simple enough task to correct (turining the wings upside down) and I have to wonder why Lego didn't just make this alteration in the first place.
The second thing to be altered was the laser cannon. There onlt have very minor modifications (correct shape for flashback suppressor) and they still aren't the correct length, a problem I will rectify soon.
The third thing to be altered (well, added really) is the retractable landing gear. There are an almost direct throwback to another MOC I have seen (but whose name I've forgotten! Get in touch, and I'll give you the credit for the great idea!). The front landing gear, while shoddy and a bit unplesant to look at, is my own creation. That too will be altered once the nose is tapered.
There is a very minor alteration to the nose-cone, in a 2-minute attempt to get the correct size, and onother, universal, modification to the engine vents.
There is still plenty to be done, however.
I would like to re-work the portion of the ship that the droid sits in, because that loos pretty goofy at then minute.
I would also like to correct the nose-cone, and add a tapering effect to the whole nose, in the way that Brucey Wan has done on his brilliant X-Wing MOC.
I like your modifications, and I'm tempted to install them on my own X-Wing. Something went wrong with your nose, though: the two sloped parts that come just before the cone have sunk a little, and it looks bad. Otherwise, great job! I look forward to seeing your modifications to the astromech section - I always thought it needed something.
