LSF Interceptor V.2.0
Oh no, here we go again...
About this creation
IíM BAACK! Sorry for my lack of posts, but events including but not limited to two enormous school projects, an abortive attempt at a Brikwars game, and a Bricklink store owner with a bad case of the flu kept me from building anything much for a while.
I was never really satisfied with the LSF Interceptor. It looked kind of stubby, and in addition to its poor color coordination parts of it were kind of roughly built. So, the first thing I did with my new pieces was to take it apart and put it back together from the ground up. The new version corrects a lot of the problems in the old one. I realize Iím putting myself in the same category as our local army of bad HALO builders by doing this, but I was really starting to hate the design the way it was.
For those of you who havenít read V.1ís page, the LSF Interceptor is a mix of Soren Robertsí YF-18 and the little fighters on Dan Jassimís Gibraltar. Itís armed with two lasers and six missile hardpoints. The fighter is propelled by one fusion drive torch and four atmosphere-capable plasma thrusters.

* Believe it or not, "Master Cheif" is an accepted FOL term. A "Master Chief" can be either a military rank or the protagonist of the HALO series of video games for Xbox and PC. A "Master Cheif" is a green minifig which usually has poorly-applied Justin Stebbins decals all over it. Said decals were probably copied from his thumbnail images rather than purchased at his online store. (Not that I'm insulting his decals OR trying to advertise his store.)

Seriously, I have nothing against posting second versions of a MOC. What's wrong with trying to improve your own skills and creations? If you spend time identifying problems with your design and correcting them, why should you be discouraged from posting the result? Mind you, there is a difference between a well-thought-out modification and posting four versions of the same HALO vehicle in a single day. I have seen this happen. You know who you are.

Top. One of the things I did was increase the hull length by two studs.

The most significant modification I made was to the underside. You can see that the lower hull is now sloped instead of boxy. Thank goodness for cheese wedges -- I got about a hundred of them in my last Bricklink order.

One reviewer said he didn't like the red and blue trans-colored studs on top. I've already explained this: the red stud is the laser focusing lens, the blue one is the targeting scanner. Optical sensors are a great way to add detail to a MOC, so I'm keeping these.

Another problem with the old design was that the intakes were way too small to supply all four engines with enough air to function in atmospheric mode. The LSF solved this problem with new TCI (Trash Can Intake) Technology. Or no, it's like the Mr. Fusion generator on the DeLorean in Back to the Future II.

*ahem* Moving on... here's the obligatory weapons shot. Not much new to see here, except that the lame chaingun pods have been replaced by more powerful autocannon pods.

Deep-space dogfight configuration. The cluster bombs on the inner hardpoints can be used to destroy pursuing enemy fighters.

Ground attack configuration with antitank missiles and autocannon pods. This angle gives you a good view of the latter.

* if you took this seriously, I feel sorry for you.

First of your's I've seen. Gonna be lookin at more because this is very solid. The lines and angles are fantastic. If I was a mini-fig, I'd dream of having one of these. Period.

Wow! Much better than the first version although I thought that there was nothing to improve cause it was already very good! I especially like the nose and the area around the canopy here. The wings keep an impressive armament, I thinkt it's very heavy for a fighter of this size, but it's still very sleek and seems to be fast! Good job! And thanks for your comment again!

Well done Ben! Excellent angles and a really good feel for color on this one! It has such a fast killer look. I like how you go the extra mile with a really extensive weapon system on your MOCs. As long as you're ordering from Bricklink anyway you might as well buy some octagonal canopies..

The first one was already good , but this one is nearly perfect ! Love the overall design, very elegant, and the yellow parts which match good with the other colors. The better idea in this MOC is the front which hide a part of the windscreen, it's a very clever and elegant solution.

Haha! Love the Halo tease. On to the ship now. It looks fantastic. It has a nice solid look to it and the cockpit area looks great. Fantastic work! Go Master Cheif!!111!!

This version is good, general improvement over the previous. Even though the details seem small, they are numerous enough to be noticed. The missile replacements were a good decision, the original trans-red/blue nosecones were annoying.
