Battle car

About this creation
When Shannon Young posted his Cyclops, he wrote something in the description about wanting to make a vehicle where the big wheels from the Technic Hailfire Droid set slanted in towards each other with a cockpit in the middle. I decided to give it a try, and this is the result. Sorry for the pictures being so dark; I was having trouble with the lighting. Speaking of which, I just updated the Arance VI with new pictures, so go check it out. Okay, seriously, Iím done with that thing. It was destroyed by 3vil.

The pilot. I didn't make his suit match the battle car because there aren't very many minifig parts in dark turquoise.

Hereís a close-up of the main cockpit pod. You might be wondering what that hinge is for. See the next picture...

Itís for the front stabilizer wheel. I absolutely despise putting this thing on because itís so ugly and ruins the overall look of the whole thing, but the cockpit section tends to fall on its face without it. Itís pretty much impossible to only put something on the top part of these wheels because the center of gravity is so high, and it just slides to the bottom without the wheel itself even moving. Iím guessing thatís why Shannon had trouble getting it to look the way he wanted it to. The Battle Car will be shown without this stupid thing in all of the following pictures, even though I had to balance it carefully to get these shots.

Side view.

Kind of another side view.

Rear view, showing the huge booster engine. If the picture is too dark, click on it.

Top view, almost.

The big cannon can move to aim. Iíve been wanting to make a cannon out of that lamppost piece, and I think it turned out pretty good.

This is how you unlock the hatch.

The pilot and the whole interior falls out of the bottom. It's kind of a weird way to exit the vehicle, but it works.

The cockpit.

Here are the instructions: STEP 1: Start with two hinged bricks at 90į angles.

STEP 2: Do this.

STEP 3: Do this.

STEP 4: Do this.

STEP 5: Do this.

STEP 6: Now build the rest of the car.

I really like this. What strikes me as the best is how the cockpit hangs under the wheels, and how large the whole thing is.

It's always nice to see else using those droid wheels! Plus I like the teal accents, I don't see enough of that either. It's too bad it's hard to balance because it looks fun to play with

Nice build Nate, it looks like a real nail-biter! Very tricky. I wish I'd bought that Hailfire set too; all I got is this lousy mini haifire from the Droid Battle Pack set. Reckon I could do something similar with that? No, I don't either.

Boy, you said it Shannon... That this is good I mean. Remember the story in the American Cival War with the brother vs brother? this is like that with this being the Republics answer to the Hailfire. Nice build. Later ~ Chris.

Wow, you win! Seriously, I give up... obviously I'm just some hack who has no idea what he's doing. I don't deserve to be on Mocpages. I don't even deserve my sizable Lego collection. It's yours -- just send me a check to cover shipping. I'll be off sobbing in the corner in the meantime.
