About this creation

WELCOME TO CASTLE FRANKENSTEIN... This is a scale replica of Historical Castle Frankenstein. Burg is German for Castle (I looked it up on some random conversion dictionary)

Burg Frankenstein is a hilltop castle about 5 km south of Darmstadt in Germany. As the name suggests, the castle and its folklore are widely believed to have been influential upon Mary Shelley. The castle was built before 1250 by Konrad Reiz von Breuberg, who made it into a territory subject only to the Emperor and henceforth adopted the family name Frankenstein.

I counted the pieces of this on demolision at 1,670 not counting the mini-figs. About 300 of the pieces are the tile flooring.

#01 I've added a whole lot of stuff to the front because I was waiting about two months on finishing and kept on coming up with good accessories. The actual castle took about a day to build... unfortunately bricklink orders take much longer.

#02 This photo is highlighting a chipmunk. I recently did a whole thing on birds, so wanted to show off some other creatures.

#03 Back Side View One

#04 Back View... This is inspired by the Young Frankenstein Movie with the flowers and the water well. I recently watched the movie to get a fresh perspective... The flick's actually quite bad (sorry Gene Wilder).

#05 Another Side view, showing off the grave that was supposedly dugg out to get the body.. When I did the haunted house, one particular reviewer suggested that Gomez' showel be put to use (cough chris)

#06 Side view highlighting staircase.

#07 Here's a naked front view (without all the guys in the way).

#08 Ok, more layers coming off...

#09 Photo highlighting the flooring.. This is what took two months to get bricklink pieces for... was it worth it??

#10 The monster... ITS ALIVE, ALIVE!!!!!

#11 Brown Bird Brown Bird What do You See??? I see a Lego Cherry Waiting for ME

#12 Front View Yet Again, No Photoshop this time.

#13 This is an artists rendition of what the fortress looked like when built. The newer version only has one tower. I put two into the build because two is better than one.

#14 I've added some comments & arrows to this photo of the castle to highlight some of the details tried to incorporate into the build

#15 Another view of the real deal

#16 Currently the castle was converted into a haunted house... way to go capitalism!!!

very, very very nice, I like this creation very much. I see that you didn't use the circletechnique you showed in another probably wouldn't have enough bricks, me neither

Normally I would have a field day with comments like the ones on pics 7 and 8... but I'm gonna let it go this time (use your imagination kids!). Gomez is finally getting some use out of his shovel! I love a good game of "Wake the dead" (Thanks for the, cough, honorable mention). Your builds never cease to inspire me, Bryan. Now for the challenge... let's see what you can do with the Munsters house (with full interiors). The gauntlet has been laid. Do your worst! (or best... you know what I meant). Later ~ Chris.

Very, very nice replica! I think it could be integrated very well in normal town layouts as well. Cool stuff! Steffen

Yes, having to wait for Bricklink orders can be excruciating but here it was worth it I think as your parquetry(?) work really gives the build heaps of personality. Great to see refernce pics too. Well done!

It is a very nice build with some clever elements. The tile work, however, is sheer brilliance. Lee.
