Personal & Repair Robots
Little robots that run around in your spaceship or hanger? We have got to do something about this.
About this creation
16 Photos on

Sure, the C Quadrant Defenders have their battle robots running all over the place (because humans aren't exactly replaceable) and that's fine and good. But what about the little repair tasks, maintenance, and other simplistic chores on bases and in ships? That's where the type A, B & C personal robots come into play. Each type is designed with certain helpful features to become anything from an assistant, to a ship mechanic, to a friend and pet. Particularly, they are used on the spacecraft of various civilians, because if you live in the C Quadrant, you probably want a helper that can survive radiation leaks in an engine.

These little automatons are not sentient, nor do they have AI- but they can learn, and remember data. They don't speak quite they way one would expect, in fact they sound like an old school computer trying to talk. They communicate with each other using a special hissing like noise- well, if your a human, that is what you hear, unless you had epic hearing above 20,000 Hz. Oh, and they understand humans pretty well.

Each robot is manufactured in the technology production facilities on Volonos- its in the next star system over from Nikros. The CQD doesn't yet employ them in their ships, but they are considering a purchase order from the Volonian's. Anyway, here are the little elegant type A, B & C robots.

Wow! look at all them robuts (Im sure this is the way Dr. Zoidberg would say it)

Hmm, looks like Captain Haley will be showing us all the types!

Cpt. Haley: "This is a Type A. Good for running around, carying stuff, and operating very simple machinery."

"They arent particularly good at repairs, but otherwise make great assistants."

"They arms extend, and the gripper rotates. They have little tiny wheels under them to scoot around."

"Oh, and can't forget the headlight! That happens to be a very usefull feature on these robots. Helps you and them see in dark areas, like behind a power reactor or something..."

"They are pretty good all-around robots. From brining you tools, to bringing your dinner, the Type A series is very useful."

"And they come in a wide variety of colors... like blue!"

"On to the Type C. Again, they include a headlight, but are a tad shorter, and a bit longer."

"But, for a good reason- thier reach is unsurpassed by other assistant robots. And its not even fully outstreached!"

"They can reach pretty far infront of them. And they have an optional solar panal to charge thier batteries. They have power cells to generate electricity when they arent near light, similar to the pair at the backs of W-series combat robots."

"Great for repairs, dangerous work, and getting at tough to reach places. Carrying stuff too!"

"Which brings me to the last robot- the Type B specialized robots. These are just modified Type A's and C's"

"Like the 'Mr. Coffey-bot' as we like to call it. Great for the bridge of a ship, when things get heckteck. It can brew tea too!"

"Oh, and the modified gripper type A, for special use. Like drilling stuff... and stuff."

"And lastly, the welding variant. The swivile base makes it great for quickly moving around to make welds. Damn, that's bright!"

"Pretty good at what they are built for, but nothing else really. "

"See, these little robots are pretty helpfull."

Ok, so this is something I have been building since I was like 10 or so. I got inspired by a movie called "Silent Running", with these three little drones. Ever since, I have made a few of these off and on, but I never got around to putting them in creations until recently. I kinda picture them as very similar to the HERO-1 robot or something, if you know what that is.

On a few occasions, they have been in MOC's, but I yanked them out before I took pictures. Anyway, please rate them well, because I really think they are original for repair robots. Screw R2-D2 (not really), because astromechs don't belong in my universe!

Well, they all can be programmed for pizza making... but for a good household model, I suggest the type A.
