About this creation

The Magnus Formica is so awesomely huge and awesome it is like the Chuck Norris of digital lego spaceships. That means don’t give this a bad review or you are not going to like whats going to happen. Just kidding (Please rate and review honestly). Anyways the Magnus Formica is around 200 studs long so it is very big and it took me about 2 or 3 weeks to complete from start to finish. Considering how big it is I couldn’t fit the entire thing in one LDD (lego digital designer) file. I splited it up into about 12 or so files consisting of the: Hallway Module, Command Module, Rec. Module, Armory Module, Crew cabins A and B, Hydroponics (plants, to make oxygen for the crew) Module, Bathroom Module, Kitchen Module, Storage Module and Engine Module. One of The features on LDD is the price checker (so you can upload and buy your lego models) when I checked the price for the whole thing it was around $1000 dolars, so I’m probably not going to be buying the Magnus Formica and building it in real life anytime soon, but I will be uploading the modules to, so if anyone out there wants to burn some money and buy this thing, go ahead and be my guest. For all of you who are wondering what “Magnus Formica” means, it’s a latin word meaning “Big Ant” When I started designing it, it looked a lot like a huge ant so I desided to called it “The Magnus Formica” (plus the name sounds bad a** so that’s another reason why). Well I’m not going to bore you any longer with this summary paragraph, so here are some pics:

Very unique view of building. Maximization of the space. Awesome design. The engine module looks like a brick by itself. And then I realize the scale... Great work - Five star ship.

I think a LEGO this size is considered a weapon in some places. Consistent look and feel all around and a really unique approach to the command module. You really get the feel that a large crew operates this science vessel. It's all a bit overwhelming actually. I think a blue trim, rather than green, would have really added to the spacey feel here. Those antennae arrays on the front have a really cool industrial look to them. They help give that "BIG" ship feel. Don't think I've seen a hydroponics section in a MOC before, you gotta give a +1 for that! The original chair design and blue walkway lights are nice touches too. File this one under "Mammoth" Class.

Talk about space for a minifig to roam. That thing is huge! Nice work Chrispy - Love the green and gray color scheme. Keep up the good work.

It looks good and I'm sure you spent a lot of time on it, but its digital. It would be nice to see something like this built in real lego.

Thats cool man, pretty big. When I first saw it, it struck to me as somewhat looking like a Trilobite or something like that. Good job keep it up!

This is really excellent! You must have the same big amount of work, like me and my (unfinished) Bird of Prey. Very nice man.
