A few years ago, I began trying my hand at Starcraft models and came up with a few things. This Scout went through various revisions and its current form is easily a year old, but it wasn't until now that I'm able to call it 100% complete (a single mis-matched color part is enough for me to keep something secret for forever). I'll be putting up some more stuff at time wanes on, but no guarantees about the timing of the Carrier.
Update: I've looked at the comments and the response was somewhat greater than expected. Thank you all for all the feedback. Leon: Yeah, I thought about a pilot, but decided against it. It barely seats a mini-fig, much less whatever Protoss I could come up with. Ben K: there used to be much more detailing just because there were so many places it was convenient, but I took a step back here. Thanks for noticing this, it was a conscious decision. Ben H and Crismo: Essentially the best compliment you can give is that it yields redeeming value with no Starcraft knowledge. And lastly, for Brently Mills to be impressed with my building tech is pretty serious. He has some ridiculously insane stuff. One of the reasons I suppose he approves here is that it's not very studdy, we all know how he champions the smooth look!
The nose seems to garner particular fascination, so I took a "cross-section" style picture showing the tech. It's actually rather simple, though getting just the right combo of parts did take some experimenting.
And, see the Scout's profile on the official Starcraft website here.
"wharp fields stableized. "It is this kind of stuff that makes one wonder: why aren't more things like this around here??" but honestly why do so many people use yellow opposed to tan??? If you would like come check out my SC stuff.
Even without knowing the source material I'm very impressed by the coherent shape. It's hard to make wings built out of SOT bricks and wedges look good, but you did, and the SNOT techniques you used to build that nose section are nothing short of amazing.
Great job! You stayed true to the design of the one in the game. The protoss scout was a good choice of what to try to build. I like the amount of detail you put into it! (but you didn't put an overload of detail so that it's cluttered, just the perfect amount)
I am a huge fan of StarCraft. Been playing for eight years, in fact. I love your model and it looks a lot like the 'Toss Scout in the game. Would be cool if you built the pilot, but the only thing we see of him is his face :P
