Iíve never built a mech before, so feedback, please. The red and orange color scheme is not just for show; it allows the Onachus to blend in with the blazing inferno (in real life, it is just for show).
Front view. The RoboForce sticker on the windscreen was originally applied by myself back when I was a little kid, so Iím lucky that itís not any more off-center and peeling than it already is. I have some fond memories of that Robo Stalker set, by the way. I remember my dad taking me to the toy store to get it because I got good grades or something, and I was so happy. My parents would only buy me big sets like that once in great while.
The pilot can exit through a door on the back.
In addition to the rear doors, there is a hatch on top. This is mostly for playability.
The midsection is composed a surprisingly stable system of hydraulic pistons to absorb shock. You can also see the lights in this shot.
When the Onachus needs to get somewhere fast, it uses the wheels on the back of each foot. I regret using Bionicle elements for the feet. To me, itís pretty much cheating.
Close-up of the flamethrower.
The melee weapon on its left arm is designed to pierce armor. A well-placed blow at full power can breach the toughest of plating, especially after it has been weakened by the extreme heat from the flamethrower.
Action pose! I wish I knew how to take better pictures. They keep coming out too dark, and itís starting to irritate me. I need to get some posterboard and probably Photoshop.
There, is that better? Well it should be, because I didnít resize this picture.
Response to LegoLord 365:
Oh, I didn't notice them. I would go change my review of it, but I'm not going to risk it.
I don't agree with Mister Shannon Young, what I love the best on this nice Mech is the color scheme, I can't remember seeing it elsewhere... Love this MOC because it could be an (pretty good) "official set".
Well done. I really like how it's at least somewhat playable, and that it is built to minifigure scale (that's always great :)) Up until now, I had never seen a flamethrower mech so that gives it some originality. I'm ready for your next one!
Not flawless but it has....charm. The legs are nice, good shape, the pick is great, and that flamethrower is awsome! The midsection leaves something to be desiered but overall exellent for a first! (sure woops the heck out've my first mecha)
Bionicle feet aren't cheating, but ball joints are! I don't think the red and orange contrast enough for a color scheme, but that's just personal preference. It's really good for a first mech. One of these days, I tell myself, I'll manage to make a decent one... one of these days...
