A custom lightsaber with - gasp! - non-lego focusing crystal elements.
About this creation
I made this last summer as something of a last hurrah. I at least half expected it to be my last significant Lego creation. And then I decided to build a UCS-scale E-wing. It wasn't as easy to walk away as I thought.
Though the construction is nothing special, I'm rather attached to it. Something about the lore of a Jedi constructing his/her own lightsaber and the connection between Jedi and weapon.
I'm rather pleased with the emitter end. I find it quite elegant.
Here you have a glimpse of what I imagine to be a power conduit of some sort and the focusing crystal chamber above it.
Here are the focusing crystals themselves. I know there should really only be one, but any of them by itself would have been too small. Following tradition [edit 3/1/17: that is, before Disney got involved and ruined things with their Khyber nonsense. No, I'm not bitter - why do you ask?], the crystals are of personal significance.
A somewhat blurry closeup of the control panel. I thought it would be fun to have minifig-scale lightsabers on my life-size model.
I think next you should make a blade for it, using only lego! And, I also think the fish gravel pieces kind of give away what their importance to you was. ( Tell me if I'm wrong, but it seems like those rocks belonged to a passed fish of yours. May he R.I.P. :] ) Anyways, nice lightsaber!
